Andrew Ashling (andrewashling) | 28 comments Hi all,

I write stories that have been described as m/m-romance, yaoi, smut, historical fantasy and I forget some.

If you want to know more about my books, I invite you to visit my website,Ximerion.

I put the first twelve chapters of Bonds of Hate, the first book in the Dark Tales of Randamor the Recluse series online as a free read.

You can also download the opening chapters of the saga absolutely for FREE in either epub-format or mobi-format (or both).

All links are on the landing page of my site, Ximerion

More than sixty-thousand words. That should give you at least some idea if you like my writing. :)

Andrew Ashling (andrewashling) | 28 comments I've uploaded all my books in epub -format to the Canadian outfit Kobo .

This includes the FREE ebook Dark Tales of Randamor the Recluse: Beginnings , which contains the first twelve chapters of the first book of the series, Bonds of Hate.

I blogged about why I decided to upload directly to Kobo, instead of going through Smashwords, on my website.

Andrew Ashling (andrewashling) | 28 comments The editing and formatting of The Invisible Hands – Part 2: Castling (Dark Tales of Randamor the Recluse – Book V) is finished.

So why the delay?

Explanation here.

I saw on your website that one reader compared your book to "Hunger Games".... I've got to ask you, is it? Do kids sensely kill kids in this? I've been reading the blurb and considering buying it but I hated Hunger Games.

Hi Pati,

First of all, sorry for this late reply. I have instant notification "on" on this thread but I didn't get a message.

I have no idea whether my books are similar or comparable to The Hunger Games because I haven't read them. Since I started this series I sort of avoid books that could influence or discourage me. :) I wrote about it in a blog-post on my site, Ximerion .

There is killing, and maybe things that are worse than death in this series but I like to think that none of it is gratuitous or random. This series is set in the far future, after an apocalyptic disaster, and humanity has crawled back to a kind of Medieval stage. But these are not our Middle Ages. I keep repeating that, but nobody listens. :) Anyway, people don't talk as you would expect people in "our" Middle Ages to talk, to mention only one thing.
So, yes, expect some cruel situations, but I promise there is redemption… eventually… sort of.

However, I think books are there for your pleasure (or maybe because they can give you something to think or feel about). If you have the least doubt they could be too harsh for you, don't read them. Yep, marketing genius at work here. :)

Alternatively, you can read the first twelve chapters (60,000+ words - a novella in its own right) of the series for FREE on my website, Ximerion . You'll find several links on the same page to download them as a free e-booklet for Kindle, in mobi and epub.
This way, at least you don't have to pay to see whether this series is something for you.

There are a few reviews on the book pages as well.

I hope this helped. Feel free to ask further questions.

Andrew Ashling (andrewashling) | 28 comments I'm editing and formatting the last chapters of my latest Epic Fantasy & Gay Romance book, Pawn Storm , part three of four of The Invisible Hands, the sixth volume in the Dark Tales of Randamor the Recluse series. This means I'm still on course for a release early next week, mainly thanks to my editor who has agreed to work a lot faster, though being ill.

Pawn Storm continues the story right after the events of Castling .
You can read two excerpts here and here .

As always when I publish a new book, worries and doubts emerge from all nooks and crannies. Writers are not particularly known for their self-confidence. So, here are a few of the things I wonder about as to how they will be received. Oh, and the cover reveal — I almost forgot. :)

If you want to receive an email on the day Pawn Storm goes live on Amazon, please subscribe to my New Releases Newsletter .

Happy weekend everyone.

Today, May 17th, is the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia . Like a lot of authors I participate in the Hop Against Homophobia and Transphobia 2014.

You'll find the complete list, with links, at the bottom of the post on my website. Be sure to check them out, because they deserve your support, and most of them give away swag and/or books. As will I.

It may sound a bit like preaching to the choir, because I suppose if you're reading this at all you're not the one this international event is aimed at. In fact, it says a lot about the sorry state of human society that such a day is still necessary.

Read more, and find out how you can win ebooks, on my site, Ximerion .

Andrew Ashling (andrewashling) | 28 comments I’m almost finished editing my gay Epic Fantasy Mate, the seventh book in the Dark Tales of Randamor the Recluse series, and the fourth and last part of The Invisible Hands.

I still need a few days, though. My earlier estimates are off by about a week. Release will be begin November, but not later than the first week.

I will announce the release of Mate first by mail to the subscribers of my New Releases Newsletter, when the book will still be offered at a lower, temporary introduction price. A few days later I will announce the release by a regular blog post, like this one.

If you’re not already subscribed to my New Releases Newsletter, you can do so here if you want.

Meanwhile, to tide you over, you can read a longer excerpt featuring Ehandar, which should please his fan club. It is taken from the penultimate Chapter 15: Serpents in the Grass.

You can read it here .

This means you can expect publication by Thursday or Friday this week.

I still need to write the blurb and I want to give the book a final once-over, but that should be it.

Andrew Ashling (andrewashling) | 28 comments I published the first installment of my story Lee-Lack's Gold on my site.

There is also a General Introduction .

The stories are set in the world of Anaxantis. They run parallel to the events related in the trilogy The Invisible Chains and the sequel quadrilogy The Invisible Hands.

These are the tales of some characters who have left the main story line as told in the first seven books. It isn’t strictly necessary to have read those, but if you haven’t, you might miss some subtle references. I tried to make these stories stand on their own. That means that if you have read the first seven books, some events will be familiar to you, though they will be told from a different perspective.

The installments will be regularly published and are free to read. You can check the website, or, on the landingspage, subscribe to the blog posts (fourth box down in the right column) to receive email notification when a new installment is published. Each email contains an unsubscribe link.
When the story is finished it will stay up for a few weeks, then it will be published as an ebook.

I hope you'll enjoy Lee-Lack's Gold.
