Caren ~ the misfit geek (caren41) Last month I gave up on the book I chose for the bird on the cover. It died a quiet death.

This time I chose a book I was reading for another challenge in another group, The Secret Life of CeeCee Wilkes. I thought it sounded like a good book from the description and it sat on my TBR shelf for a while. It was chosen for me in a TBR challenge.

I'm really glad it was selected for me. I really liked the book. The story was well thought out and the characters were well developed. It was not a fluffy summer read but it was also not a super heavy read. The story flowed very well.

The story is about a teenage girl who is seduced into participating in a kidnapping that goes terribly wrong. We follow CeeCee as she goes underground, assumes a new identity, and raises a child that is not her own. Her fear of being discovered affects the way she raises Cory and this in turn affects Cory. In the end, she pays for her crimes but she also earns a kind of peace.

I gave it 4 stars. I have a couple of other books on my TBR shelf by this author and can't wait to read them.

That does sound very interesting; I've added it to my to-read list. :)
