Maybe the next sentance has to make sense with the previous one.
Fake flowers paved the path to her throne, where she sat waiting for those petals to someday wilt.
The man was saved by those flowers as the queen postponed her decision to execute him due to her dedication to her flowers.
Good idea.Save--->Sate.
She realized that she was neglecting the world about her, but she could do nothing until she found something to sate that nagging discontent at the back of her mind.

Then she felt safe as a brave warrior came from the Heavens to convince the queen not to execute her.

Her fate was to be thrown away carelessly, like the flowers she had picked and grown.

I never heard of it either. I just looked it up in the dictionary because I ran out of options while trying to change type. It wasn't easy.
Rope--->Ripe.He'd ignore the rope while he waited for the fruits to ripen though.
Ah, Cope---> Cape.He loved superhero capes.

Lane--->Lame.He wanted candy for a candy collection, because cane collections are lame.
