Darkened Fates discussion

This is exactly as the name implies. It's an idea box where you can float around ideas for other people to help you flesh out or let them borrow it. Remember, if you post an idea here, than someone else might use it.

So I have a girl named Arturia who is heading to Camelot to become a knight and become High king eventually. But between her arriving in camelot and her drawing the sword out of the stone, she has nothing better to do. Can someone help me think of conflict or something that would provide a plot point for me to work on?

1. Considering her lineage, Uther might have sent someone to spy on her and report back every so often. (She'd be a threat to his rule.) If he had, and she found out about this spy, that could be a plot point.

2. Give her some reason in the middle of her journey to Camelot to want return home, aside from homesickness. Maybe something involving her friend, Isabella?

3. Also, build up things for her to lose when she does become king. (Hard earned things worth a lot to her, that way there would be more tension at the turning point of the story?)

4. Not sure how much help this will be, but think of things that cause internal conflict and life-changing decisions, or decisions that would serve as a point for character growth. Things like death, murder, priorities, motivations, etc.

Well, I also think pretty well whenever I'm just staring at my ceiling at night. Problem is, I forget when I wake up, so now, I keep a pen and paper next to my bed.

It's a marvelous way to help stay organized and keep thoughts together.

I've tried that a few times, and found that I could decipher maybe 1 out of every 100 words.

Off~ If I go to turn the lights on, it's like the lights purge my mind of any thought. >.<

Heh, that's not good. Well, what about a flashlight?

Flashlights have this weird unnatural colored light that reminds me of hospitals. (I'm...so picky.)

:). Hospitals aren't the most comforting place to be.

She was aspiring to be a knight because it was the dying wish of her grandfather. However, since Camelot was (really) sexist and there weren't any female knights, that's a problem she has to overcome.

There should probably be some sort of threat established in the story, maybe something like scamming... Maybe she has competition. I prefer to read stories where two things compete for a more superior role?
