Beth (eparks4232) | 162 comments In case you are a fan of the spreadsheet/app that has been out there and a great tool for many of us, you may not yet have heard that the publishers are trying to shut the spreadsheet/app down and prevent an update to the new edition due to intellectual property issues. The app developers are negotiating with the publishers and are getting somewhere, apparently, but there is a petition to sign if you are interested in giving your support to the cause. I know for me, I was motivated to buy the book only because I was motivated to conquer the list, and I was motivated to conquer the list partly because the Spreadsheet helps me keep track of what I have done. Here is the address for the petition: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/305/95...

Danielle | 1 comments Please - everyone sign this petition. The spreadsheet is a in-valuable tool for fans of the series.

Elizabeth (Alaska) What will they do with my email address?

You'd have to read the policy of the care2 site on how they use email addresses, but for one thing, they send you a confirmation of the petition signing. I have signed a number of petitions through the care2 site, and it is no more or less obnoxious than any other site that has my address.

Elizabeth (Alaska) Not going to sign because I believe it will lead to my being spammed. The infringement of intellectual property around the world is rampant. However, I think the spreadsheet adds value and I hope the two parties can come to an agreement.

Beth (eparks4232) | 162 comments You could try emailing the publisher directly about it. I did that too: [email protected]

Arukiyomi | 271 comments Hi everyone... major announcement. I'll shortly be taking the petition offline. It's served it's purpose and I'm now entering into discussions with the publishers. These discussions, I'm sure you'll understand have to be confidential. As a result, having the petition out there in a public forum will not help these discussions.

In time, I'll have news. It may take weeks or months but I'll have news.

I can't express my thanks to you all for your support. You are truly amazing!

Emma (mnium) | 135 comments Wow, I hope something really exciting happens here. Arukiyomi's spreadsheet adds major value and I would like to see John or John and Sheena rewarded for that awesome labor of love. I've been using the spreadsheets since what I think must have been the first version or one of them, and have upgraded through versions 2 and 3.3 to 4. I was just thanking Arukiyomi again as I attempt to come back to the world of 1001bymrbyd and had to import to version 4 from version 3.3 because I seem to have lost my original version 4 update. It was just so easy! And then I filled in the blanks with my Goodreads list of read books. I've had the list on the shelf for such a long time. Grad school's done. Time to try some more nourishing pleasure reading again.
