I read those books too but I'm not a member of that group so I can't really say what their discussions are like.

I'm not too worried about the level of the discussion in a group. I'm mostly looking for new author/book ideas.

I also found a great group for people interested in Scandinavian Crime Fiction: http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/4...

I also help run the Literary Exploration book club where we read a very wide range of genres and try to have something different each month; and also the Pulp Fiction book club dedicated to hard boiled detective novels, noir and other crime novels.

1) Crime fiction. Specifically, crime-fiction set in Europe. For example, books such as The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo or Shatter The Bones. To me, reading books set in foreign countries really gets me into the story.
2) Action thrillers. At least that's what I call them. Stuff similar the Sigma Force series from James Rollins or the Scarecrow series from Matthew Reilly. The combination of history/science/action is what I'm looking for. Its so hard to pinpoint the genre of these types of books.
3) Travel adventure books. There's lots of places in the world I'm not likely to travel to so these books help me get there. Example: Long Way Round: Chasing Shadows Across the World. Being written by Obi-wan Kenobi isn't a requirement.
Check out my shelves if any of this seems interesting or you need more examples. If anyone could steer me in the right direction, many thanks to you.
Cheers
