Elementals [Advanced RP] discussion

Masquerade Celebration-


Every year, the Elders host the Masquerade Celebration basically to try and get the Elementals to get to know one another. Since their hatred toward each other has only grown, this is somewhat of a last ditch effort from the Elders in order to break down that hatred. During this time, the Masquerade lasts for one month and spreads along town. It generally comes with sparkling lights and cheerful moods on the part of older Elementals. Any Elemental younger than 17 must also leave town. This is because before this age, most Elementals have yet to fully learn how to control their abilities. The Elders see it as a chance for each division to get to know one another, while most younger Elementals see it as a form of torture. A mask is required to be worn during this time.



Elders-

The Elders are somewhat of the King and Queen of each division. There is one female and one male chosen for the fire court, the water court, the air court, and the earth court. These Elementals are used as a means of peaceful communication between the divisions. They are liked by all Elementals, irregardless of what division they are in. (Ex: The Air Elder is loved by even the Fire Elementals, and so on.) The Elders show respect to one another- at least, verbally. It's not uncommon for them too to secretly hate the other divisions just like any other Elemental. There is normally no relationship between the two Elders aside from the 'job,' though it has been known to happen occasionally. Of course, it has never happened between Elders in different divisions.

*Elders abilities are also way more advanced than any mere Elemental. They have better control over it and can do more things with their element.*

Since I've seen a lot of people referring to themselves incorrectly as Elementals, I'd like to clarify the difference between Elementals and Elementalists, which is what all characters in this roleplay really are, since they're Humans.


Elementalists are a type of Magi that manipulate the six--or, in this case, four--Elements, but do not control the pure form, itself. They, normally, are able to control all of the Elements and do not specialize in a single Elements. Those that do specialize are called by a specific name, based on what Element they specialize in. Those that specialize in the Element of Fire are known as Pyromancers. Those that specialize in the Element of Water are known as Aquamancers. Those that specialize in the Element of Earth are known as Geomancers. Those that specialize in the Element of Wind, which is the pure form of Air, are known as something similar, which I can't remember at the moment. I believe it's Areomancers, but I'm not sure. Like the Elementals in the latter type of RP, Elementalists tend to be at war with each other (in the same situation as the latter example) because they believe their Element is superior, so they often have poor relations, as well.

Elementals are beings made out of the pure Element they represent. They can take many forms, but the most common forms are...(trying to figure out the best way to explain this)...essence-like beings that appear as a single body of the given element with two apendages (arms) and levitate off the ground. The other is the humanoid form which resembles the Human form in the form of a pure Element. These beings are born from the pure Elements and are goverened by (in most RPs and lores) the six Elemental Lords to keep them in check. They normally reside within the Elemental Plane, but are connected to our world by places of the pure Elements that they resemble (Ie: deep reaches of the ocean for Water Elements, the core of the world for Fire Elementals, etc.). In different RPs, they have different relations. In some RPs, when other races are involved, the Elementals tend to work together and aid whomever in the RP and co-exist in the Elemental Plane. In others, when it's basically just the Elementals, they tend to have poor relations and are typically at war woth each other and are separated by Arcane barriers within the Elemental Plane into sections with each section being turned into its own environment that best benefits or otherwise resembles the Elementals that reside there and are led by the Elemental Lords. If this group has Elementals as the main race, then it seems it would follow the latter, not the former.


That is the difference between Elementals (beings made purly out of a specific Element) and Elementalists (beings [Humans] that control the Elements [or, in this case, an Element]).
