The Binary Man is a fantastic dystopian novel which also has sci-fi and techno thriller themes. It's a first novel by Jacob Prytherch. The 32 year old author has a sizable following in the U.K. but he's basically unknown to American readers.
Binary Man is set in a future time where elected government has been supplanted by the tyrannical rule of private corporations which have colonized both the earth and the far flung regions of outer space.
In the world of The Binary Man, much of the earth is underwater from global warming and highly educated tech workers are recruited to work in space stations run by high tech companies. The space station workplaces enforce brutal and repressive work conditions. The citizen work force works under the omnipotent eye of a brutal mercenary corporate police force. As a condition of employment, workers are required to have surgically attached implants which allows their employer to monitor their "emotional well being" at home and at work.
Pyrthech book makes strong statements against corporate domination of society, the unethical use of technology, global warming and invasive techniques of surveillance.
Binary Man is not a dull rhetorical exercise... Prythech's novel has well plotted story line, a cast of compelling characters and plenty of explosive action.
If you enjoy futuristic tales like Blade Runner, Dark City or Gattaca then check out Binary Man. Binary Man would make for an excellent thinking man's science fiction film. Some savvy film director should option the film rights to Prythech's novel.
Mr. Prythech is seeking out of larger readership in the United States, so I'm spreading the word on his behalf. His second novel Heal The Sick, Raise The Dead will be released in autumn 2012. Here's a link to his author's page at Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Jacob-Prytherch...
