message 1: by Taylor (new)

Taylor Calixto Hey guys I'm Taylor! :) I really want to find a book that makes me cry. I never cry while watching films/reading books. The only exceptions being the film versions of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas and Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close. I really like to read sad/emotional books so if anyone could recommend one that made you cry I would really appreciate it! ^^

message 24: by Ela (last edited Aug 24, 2012 04:05PM) (new)

Ela I cried so hard in the 3rd book of His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman.(but you would have to read books one and two first)

Northern Lights (His Dark Materials, #1) by Philip Pullman (the first book)
Unhooking the Moon by Gregory Hughes <---I also loved this book and it is so sad in the end
White Fang by Jack London <--- I just finished thi and I shed a tear at the end

Dammmit I can't think of any at the moment, but in terms of fims it is without a doubt Bridge to Terabithia, I think it is much sadder than the book and I'm always a mess after watching it.

If I Stay by Gayle Forman Teary eyed the whole time.

Forever (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #3) by Maggie Stiefvater This was almost too much. Really embarrassing to cry in front of your boyfriend while reading a book. At least he hugged me until I finished :)

Loving Emily by Anne Pfeffer <3 this book.

Virginia Woolf's novels make me want to cry, but those aren't YA.

Don't worry, I will read it, just probably when I feel more up to being sad. I don't suppose you cried because it was happy?

Well it was more of a bittersweet ending but most of the sad stuff happens at the end of the middle part of the book. Yeah this is more of a rainy day read :)

message 39: by Natasha (new)

Natasha Orchard (natashamaree) | 5 comments Before I Die by Jenny Downham

I cried in this book, it was very emotional knowing you have so little time left, but then to fall in love and then having to lose it all.

Also, try reading something that's notorious for being a tear jerker, like My Sisters Keeper or The Last Song.
But seriously read Pulled because I was bawling.
