Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) Watching anime is my hobby as well.

Pauline | 36 comments Does anyone else like running? I'm slow but get a real sense of achievement from it. And I've recently discovered Zumba... almost too much fun to be legal!

message 53: by Molly (new)

Molly | 25 comments I enjoy running as well. I just do sprints on the treadmill but I always feel amazing afterwards.

I've only once made the mistake of trying to read on the treadmill. My poor eyes thought the world was ending! Oops. ;)

Molly | 25 comments I find that frustrating too. It's an hour of time I could be reading but it's too hard to do on treadmills and elipticals. Maybe I'll try the bike next time.

Pauline | 36 comments Yes, bike is best!
Does anyone else have suggestions for multi-tasking while reading? I'm thinking audio might be a good way to go.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) audio is the way to go if you are on a tread or an Eliptical. I also love zumba.

Nancy I'm jealous! I USED to run. Started out in my 20's with 2 miles every day and switched it up to 5 miles every other day. Ran into my 40's but then all of the sudden I hit a brick wall with my health. No cartilage in the knees (need to be replaced, but haven't yet) eventual surgery on both feet even though I'd been careful about frequent replacing of shoes (good New Balance) and then a huge thyroid tumor that caused a host of other problems. Dr says no weight bearing exercise anymore. I SO miss the high I had when I was done!!! So now I have a heavy old Schwin Aerodyne exercise bike that has tension adjustments, arm things - and I LOVE it because... IT HAS A BOOK STAND!! I get on at 5:30 AM and read a half hour every morning. Its great and I don't have to leave my house. Work is often 12 hr days, so being able to not go trucking somewhere else after my day is wonderful.

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments Aww Nancy, sorry you can't run anymore. My sis just had knee replacement surgery and is doing amazing! Just 3 days later she said it didn't hurt as much as it did before the surgery. I was worried about it, but with her success I can now recommend it for anyone suffering with their knees. BTW, your book stand bike sounds great!!

Oh, Nancy, that's really hard. I had knee problems while I was 'training' for a marathon and although I completed it, I won't ever be doing another one.
But I'm so pleased you love your book-stand-with-pedals :)

Hi Nancy and Stacey, I enjoy genealogy and am a member on Ancestry.com. I really enjoy discovering information about my family. I've even discovered a second cousin in New York. My father's family has been in this area going back before the civil war; very possibly, I may be going on a genealogy trip there in the future. Hope you both have discovered lots too.

Laura K | 266 comments Sorry to hear about your knees too Nancy, must be frustrating. I loved running when I was younger, but too much of that with other fun activities wore on my knees; I've had two surgeries on one knee, and the other one has been bothering me for a few years now. I'm putting off doctors for now, and don't do weight bearing activities. Running was so awesome; loved the high too!

Nancy Isn't Ancestry great Laura?! Frustrating dealing with the joints as you age. I know I am hard on my entire body period - shoulder surgery from years of conducting, carpal tunnel surgery from years of piano playing, foot surgery from running (and heels although I stopped wearing those in my late 30's/early 40's and graduated to be a Birkenstock fan) and of course the knees pending - thank heavens medicine has been able to keep me functioning fairly well.

message 64: by Laura K (new)

Laura K | 266 comments It sure is Nancy. I've really filled out my family tree on both sides, but I am currently stuck. I cannot bust past my great-great-great grandfather on my dad's paternal side. I may go spend some time at the Family Research Center here; they have access to all the records in Provo, UT. On my mom's side, I am also stuck. It appears I need International access. Did you do the DNA test thing?

Anna (arosebled) | 2 comments My husband recently got me into Scuba Diving. I received my Open Water Referral in October and will be doing the recreation dives in Panama. Yayy!

Stephanie Haefner | 16 comments I LOVE scrapbooking!!! I've always been huge into crafting of all kinds. But scrapbooking really does something great for me...it's a way to turn family photos into something more artistic.

Other than that, I love going to dance class, Zumba, fun things with the family, golf with the hubby when we can manage, movies!

Goya (echofc) | 14 comments I love photography and gardening. This spring I want to take up hiking and get back into shape.

Lianne (eclecticreading) | 365 comments Aside from reading, I write (though that's been a little on-and-off ever since school started again). I also enjoy photography and I've started drawing again. Hopefully one of these days I'll move from sketching to painting (no room at the moment--or time) =)

I agree, I've enjoyed my time travelling alone because I can check out whatever places and walk a lot at my own pace =)
