Yes, Utah. Land of cities wanting everyone to have a gun, Jason Chaffetz, Mike Lee, Orrin Hatch, too many mormons to count, and now some asshole who charges $1 more when a liberal wants a smoothie. He said that "all three of them have been fine with paying the extra dollar."

See, this guy is in Vernal, where Mitt Romney got more than 90% of the vote in the 2012 presidential election.

Utah, home of insane liquor regulations, insane politicians, and insane smoothie store owners.

mark monday (majestic-plural) probably that sense of entitlement that liberals are supposed to have. i assume it appears as a sort of holier-than-thou glow floating above the insidious liberal's head.

mark monday (majestic-plural) not sure why i'm still on this thread. surely i have a book i could be reading.

so back when i worked as an entertainment underwriter for AIG, and hated myself, the lady in the cube next to me was a crisis insurance underwriter. insurance for businessmen abroad, including kidnap insurance and insurance for various limbs in case they were amputated during your kidnapping and subsequent hostage negotiation. they had fascinating promotional materials. their brochure for global coverage had a front picture of a world on fire. their brochure for kidnapping coverage had an empty swing with a teddy bear on it. they also passed out these styrofoam bombs to prospective clients:

Photobucket

i brought a whole bag of these home to a potluck put on by my household at the time - an anarchist vegan collective of sorts. a fun time was had by all. styrofoam bombs are fun to toss!

Utah Owner Boots Two who Backed Obama

And yes, Utah is a fucking "right to work" state, which means he can fire anyone at anytime and doesn't need a reason. "Right to work" my fucking ass!

"He said that in the past couple of years he has had to cut costs as his business has slowed. But he said his accountant recently told him that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, had raised his company’s taxes and operating costs. Asked to detail those costs, Lee deferred to his accountant, who could not be reached for comment. Obamacare mandates that only businesses with more than 50 employees be required to insure full-time employees or face penalties."

Uh huh. He employs 9 employees. So either he, or his accountant, is lying.

message 164: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Or he's a racist idiot.

message 165: by mark (new)

mark monday (majestic-plural) i dunno about racist because it didn't mention the fired employees' race. but an idiot, yes.

well, he's probably a racist too, why not. i'll make the leap!

Frankly it's very scary to me that people can be fired for their political beliefs. Seems like maybe we should look at that.

message 167: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I was going by his slur on Obama's name. "Obongo."

Your Youtube video where you're breastfeeding your twins? WTF. No, I am not interested.

I watched a Youtube of something, I can't remember what, maybe an adorable bat? Then when it finished and the recommended for me videos popped up, one of them was a woman with most of her breasts uncovered, breastfeeding her twins. So no, WTF, your twins being breastfed, not interested. Go away Youtube breastfeeder.

I bet it thinks I want to watch big boobed women breastfeeding because in a previous thread I posted an image of Christina Hendricks. See, this is why I hate the google.

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 3595 comments Thank you, Fifty Shades of Grey (applauded by many in the media).

message 176: by mark (new)

mark monday (majestic-plural) that damn liberal media is totally pro domestic violence! and pro drop kicking babies! and pro everything else that is bad!

message 177: by Scout (new)

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 3595 comments I didn't see criticism of the book's themes anywhere in the media. You inferred liberal media. I read about a fourth of the book and only got that far because my neighbor recommended it. We usually see eye to eye, but not on this one.

Phil | 11837 comments I got an e-mail today in which someone was trying to sell me a new brand of tea.

The subject line of the e-mail said,

The sweet taste of Arnold Palmer...in your mouth

EWWWWWW!

Inside, the first paragraph was,

Ever had the sweet taste of Arnold Palmer in your mouth?

That's right - A refreshing blend of iced tea and lemonade. If you haven't had an Arnold Palmer to drink, you're missing out!
