Paulette I think of Morgan Freeman when I think of Alex Cross.

John (jkbrown2) | 389 comments I agree with Denzel Washington. Cross in the books is discribed as looking like Mohammed Ali.

message 3: by Deborah (new)

Deborah | 1 comments I actually thought that my husband was joking when he told me that Madea was going to be Alex Cross! I don't think Denzel would be my first choice. There were lots of good actors on "The Wire". It would be nice to see somebody fresh and new.

A.N. Patel (anpatel) | 1 comments I thought it was strange too when I first heard about Madea now playing Alex Cross. But I saw the movie preview and it looks like he may have done a good job.

Gatorman | 7679 comments This series is so done it doesn't matter who plays Cross at this point.

I am with Gator. As far as I am concerned Cedric the Entertainer can play Cross. This series and this author are done for me.

Afsana (afsanaz) | 179 comments morgan freeman was great in kiss the girls in the original

message 8: by Russell (new)

Russell Brooks (russellbrooks) I believe Tyler Perry could pull it off. Although I would've preferred Idris Elba.

message 9: by Erick (new)

Erick Burgess | 2 comments I actually wrote a blog about this a few months ago. Because the bulk of Perry's work has been as Madea, I don't think I can really see him as Alex Cross. I hope that I'm wrong, but I don't think anything can save this series at this point.

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 445 comments Tyler Perry has done dramatic roles also, so I have no problem seeing him in this type of role. As to whether he is Alex Cross, well, as much as Morgan Freeman was, I would say.

Elizabeth (elizabeth8921) | 7780 comments Tyler Perry no way! Agree with Idris Elba

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.

message 13: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) It looks like Tyler Perry has pulled it off. While the lion's share of his work is in comedy, he does have a serious body of work and has added this to it. I must admit I was initially skeptical but the trailers I've seen (and the reviews) seem to have allayed my concerns.

message 14: by Bill (new)

Bill It's funny, but there are many actors who are known for the comic roles who make great serious actors when they are given the chance. I haven't seen the Cross movie, but from the trailers, Tyler Perry seems very believable.

Sandi | 451 comments Isn't Alex Cross black? Living in a low-income area with his grandmother and children?

Oops, I read Tyler, but thought Matthew. And, I have no idea who Tyler is; obviously an age difference, sorry.

message 16: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) Yes. So is Tyler Perry.

message 17: by Naomi (new)

Naomi | 11 comments I prefer Tyler Perry to Morgan Freeman anyway. Like a pp said, Alex Cross is described as looking like a "young Muhammad Ali", which IMO, TP looks more like than MF.

So I'm looking forward to seeing a new Alex Cross.

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 1438 comments Just got back from watching the movie. I had my doubts about whether I could get past Perry as Madea, but no worries there. The movie was actually pretty good - at times violent enough that I closed my eyes, but I thought the movie worked. I'd give it a 3 out of 5 stars.
