East Texas, murders - one black, one white - racial undertones, black Ranger Darren Mathews investigates - well worth a read! 4/5

Kerri_M | 785 comments Just finished Acqua Alta by Donna Leon #5 in the Brunetti series

Slowly working my way through this series, the early books are hard to find. This one I had on order from the Library since Nov last year - not because it was so popular it had a long waiting list, but because they couldn't find it!

Enjoyed this one, as always set in Venice, and learned a lot about the acqua alta via google. Always good to learn while enjoying reading

Acqua Alta (Commissario Brunetti, #5) by Donna Leon ★★★★

Kerri_M | 785 comments I also just finished The Spotted Dog by Kerry Greenwood

I am going to say something that might be a little controversial - I have always preferred this series to the Phrynne series. There, I said it! But that said, I didn't enjoy this one as much as some of the others. The bread didn't rise as much as it should...

The Spotted Dog by Kerry Greenwood ★★★☆

PattyMacDotComma | 813 comments A Plague of Angels by P.F. Chisholm (aka Patricia Finney) is another entertaining adventure with Sir Robert Carey through 16th century London. Plague, jealousy, swordfights - what's not to love?

PattyMacDotComma | 813 comments The Soldier's Curse shows 1825 Australia and the British penal colony in Port Macquarie, NSW, warts and all. It's the first of a series that Meg Keneally and her father, Tom Keneally, have planned to bring history to life. I've got to say, I'm sure glad I didn't live then!

#4 in the series, read it in a day. I like the period setting in this series. We talk today about gender inequality, but I am glad we have come a long way since these times.

Thanks for that Kylie! I love this series and did not know this book was out. I just got myself a copy from Netgalley.
