Lynxie I'm currently reading Wool Omnibus Wool Omnibus (Wool, #1-5) by Hugh Howey into part #2 and it's starting to get intriguing. I'm not really sure what to expect from this strange world... has anyone here read it?

I haven't Lynxie, but I've seen in update feeds that quite a few people have been reading it...hope you enjoy it:)

message 204: by Lynxie (new)

Lynxie Yeah, I too saw a lot of people in my update feeds reading it, and it was recommended by a friend. So I took the plunge.

16% in and it's grasped me, but I'm not sure where it will go. It certainly is big on world building which is mixed in with getting to know some of the characters. It's good.

Omnibus isn't available in Australia but you can by each part individually.

Michael (knowledgelost) Mish that is book one of the series and not the omnibus

Here is a list of the books in the series - http://www.goodreads.com/series/70647...

Brenda | 11957 comments Mod
I thought it must have been at least 4 of them Michael, as the total number of pages is 448 (about) against only 58 for book 1...I was adding them up, as it doesn't state in the link Mish gave, what book it is.

message 213: by Lynxie (last edited Dec 04, 2012 04:08AM) (new)

Lynxie I was able to buy it in kindle format on Amazon. Here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008...

It contains books 1-5

Thanks Lynxie:) You're reading it now aren't you? What are you thinking?

message 215: by Lynxie (new)

Lynxie Yep, I'm reading it now. I have decided that Hugh is pretty mean. I am liking certain characters and they seem to get themselves into a bit of a pickle.

It's good. Different.

message 217: by Lynxie (new)

Lynxie Yeah, about 33% through it at the moment. It's taking me a while to read, but it's quite good.

I'm just not sure Lynxie! I'm not a short story person, and it's that, so...... O_o!!!

message 219: by Lynxie (new)

Lynxie Yes, they are short stories, but they do connect and go together... the same characters are in them, the previous knowledge you learn is vital to the next one and they do run one after the other... it does make them a little disjointed, but it's not too bad.

I'd say give it a try for $6 or whatever it is at the moment on Amazon.

Well on her GR author page it's just Literature & Fiction.. She's won Romance awards for 2 of her novels - for Foreign fruit and The Last Letter from your Lover. The Girl you left behind is a touch historical fiction as is The Ship of Brides (WW1&2) So idk? Not chick lit even though some of the blurbs might suggest that..

OK thanks Jen...I thought she might have been crime or something (though I could have looked, couldn't I!!!) lol Glad you're enjoying her though:)

message 237: by Lynxie (new)

Lynxie Maybe just a little Brenda :D

Currently reading Zed Zed (Zed, #1) by Stephen Herfst which is a bit of a comic zombie story. It reminds me a bit of the new movie that's coming out shortly 'warm bodies' http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1588173/ if any of you have seen the shorts for that, you'll probably get what I mean.

Lynxie Ok, so I'm reading Deadly Motive Deadly Motive by D.S. Butler which is a detective murder mystery or so the synopsis tells me.

I'm about 10% in and it's pretty catchy so far. Have any of you read it?

message 243: by Jaymark (new)

Jaymark (kramyaj) I am currently reading and EdMcBain classic that I borrowed from the Kindle Owners Lending Library which is free with the Amazon prime membership. The title is Cop Hater which is the first book on the 87th Precinct Series starring Steve Carella. I have read a lot of books on this police procedural series and I am looking forward to read all of them every month free using the Prime membership!

Is anyone here familiar with the 87th Precinct Novels by EdMcBain?
