Thanks for your input Gail. I agree, an animal can add to the story for sure.

Sheri S. | 18 comments Hello readers! I am Sheri S Levy, author of Seven Days to Goodbye. My life with dogs started as a child with a Dachshund's. As an adult my husband and I rescued a German Shepherd and a Lab, adding our first Aussie, Sydney. I am working with my third and fourth Aussie. Because of rescuing a very troubled Aussie, I worked with trainers who used only positive reinforcement. He has turned out to be a very special dog. My YA story deals with training a service dog for autism and PTSD, along with relationship issues, and fun on Edisto Beach.

Jennifer Wilson | 9 comments Hello! My name is Jennifer Wilson and I live in Milford, Delaware on a small Arabian Horse farm. We currently have six horses and one due in about a month. We also have a lovely Australian shepherd to herd our three children and ensure the horses are behaving. My son is in third grade and is known as "The Egg Man". He has a small flock of 10 egg layers and a spectacular, but rather arrogant, rooster. He sells his free-range organic eggs at school and is making a killing. He just hatched his first four chicks.

I am a high school special education teacher and I love all things animal and nature. I am a total literary geek and just published my first book. I am really excited and hope it will be successful enough to pick up a publisher. I would like to write a fictional teens series based on the adventures of our twin colts that were born last year.

I look forward to reading all of your wonderful recommendations on great animal books!!!

Vicki (vickiguardianofthewraiths) Hi All,
I found this group surfing on GoodReads and it seemed interesting and a chance to read some different books. I'm 66 retired and reading a lot. I've always loved animals. I used to bottle feed orphan lamb, calves, piglets my Uncle might have on his farm. Of course I babied them and made pets of them. My family always got a kick out of it. I bottle fed a lamb and named her,Flower, I'd just seen Bambi. She followed me every were and slept on a rug at the foot of my bed. I was probably 8 at the time.
I have, with my son several dogs. They are my sweeties.
My babies are Luna & Linus. Luna is an 10 yr old Pit Bull I trained and competed with in Weight Pull. She pulled 4300 lbs in less than 1 min. I have had Dobermans. Great Danes, GSD, Akita mix and Pit Bulls. I have trained and comprted with my dogs in Obedience, Rally O and Weight Pull I love to find books with animals in them. I want to read One Good Dog but it kinda made me sad when I started it so I stopped.

Hi Vicki,, I really loved "One Good Dog". I liked it went back and forth from dog to human.

Also, I haven't been doing too much lately with this group. I'm usually busy in the summer. In the late fall it will pick back up for me.

When I started One Good Dog when dog was talking bout the "friendly" bait dogs I couldn't go on it made me so sad I put it down to read another day. I'm lucky I can read any time

Stephanie Hi All! I'm Stephanie! My hubby, dog and I just moved to O'ahu from Virginia! We have moved around some and I'm a complete animal (mostly dogs) lover. My favorite books are those told from the POV of a dog!

I found this group by searching for dog book groups on goodreads and thought I would join :)

My current reads are free books I found through Amazon and sadly aren't animal books. Waiting for our home belongings to be shipped here :)

Vaseem Khan (vaseemkhan) | 5 comments hi all

I love animals and write a light-hearted crime series set in India featuring a baby elephant as a sidekick. Here's a bit of info about the series for anyone interested:, For fans of The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency series - The first book in my series The Unexpected Inheritance of Inspector Chopra is a Times Saturday bestseller, Waterstones Book Club selection and Amazon Best Debut pick. This 2015 hit introduces readers to Inspector Ashwin Chopra of the Mumbai police as he moves through the turbulent, colourful fabric of modern Indian society in search of a murderer, whilst simultaneously coming to grips with the surreal dilemma of caring for a one-year-old baby elephant that has been sent into his care. “Endearing and gripping” ~ The Sunday Times; “Colour and atmosphere flows out of every page” ~ The Daily Express; “Utterly charming” ~ The Guardian
