Jeff Young (CityBoy) | 18 comments Hello all. Ive been following all the questions and discussions quietly for some time. I've discerned that there are bodice ripper fan readers who write posts that they don't like the rapes in the genre. For the sake of discussion, I thought that's what the short-lived bodice ripper genre was all about? Take out the graphic and lurid quick sex, one-night stands, rough sex-invited and forced, hate sex, and well, you just have a romance novel with more sex.
Last question, bodice ripper fans.

What bodice ripper titles feature just that, rape sex and hate sex from nasty and/or guys (strangers or not) with uncontrollable lust for the heroine?

thanx, Jeff

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 75 comments Well, I can't answer for anyone else, but I don't complain about the rapes and asshole heroes and rough sex, etc. That's why I read BRs, for that crazy, occasionally nasty stuff. I read fluffy romances too, but sometimes I just want it rough and I turn to a BR.

Wicked Loving Lies comes to mind as a perfect example, that poor girl got abused big time.

Yeah Wicked Loving Lies is a good example Kit, and wasnt the one by Christine Monson..(I think her name was) cant remember the book but have heard lots about it, fit into there as well?

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) I will admit that I prefer the soft bodice rippers with no cheating. Just the "hero" doing the stuff.

Tracyk | 110 comments Hmm, I don't like the hero doing the rape/abuse, i don't mind if the heroine has been raped by the villain who come's to a gruesome end at the hands of the hero or heroine.

I like my hero's to be masterful & dominating but not abusive, some authors can do that well where-as some authors go to far IMO

A few hero's that do it for me Royce from Kingdom Of Dreams, Royce from Hearts Aflame, Jerome McKenzie from Surrender, Hero's from Marsha Canham books - dislike so-called hero from Karen Robards SeaFire & Island Flame, Siezed by Love by Susan Johnson.

I agree with you Tracyk on how you like your hero's,I feel the same..(hate it if he's a cheater though.) And hate multiple rapes(pass-around-Polly thing) Love all the hero's in Marsha Canham's books, and the others you like as well..good choices :)
