Kara (karaayako) | 3984 comments Wow, this year is just flying by! It's already time to nominate books for September's group read. September's theme is occupations. Nominate a book where the character's job is involved in the plot. It could be a scientist exploring a new world, a detective solving a mystery, an actor writing a memoir...anything! This is pretty open to interpretation.

Please nominate only one book. You can second someone else's nomination, but that will count as your own.

Nominations will close on August 11th. Ten books will be chosen for the poll. If more than ten books are nominated, we'll choose the ten most nominated. If there is a tie to get into the top ten, we'll go by their Goodreads average rating.

Connieb (otherwordly) | 82 comments Where'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple Bernadette not only has one job, she's a mother, wife, designer. The plot twists have really peaked my interest.

Kelsi (essentiallybooked) | 751 comments I love Phillipa Gregory and have been waiting to read this forever: The White Queen (The Cousins' War, #1) by Philippa Gregory . About the War of the Roses--includes politics, romance, you name it!

Nathan (nthnlwly) I'll nominate Brave New World by Aldous Huxley . I think the premise is that people are bred to do certain jobs? If someone's read this and I'm wrong, let me know and I'll remove my nomination, but this one's been sitting on my shelf a long time and I'd love to get it read!

I second this one, I've just heard about it and want to give it a go!

I have had this on my list forever as well. We could Buddy Read it too if it's not chosen! I want to read it.

Ashley Hey everyone! I see that Brave New World is popular on here, so if it is not chosen just let me know and I will set you up a Buddy Read thread! :)

Kara (karaayako) | 3984 comments Great nominations! You still have the end of the day to get yours in if you have a last minute one.

I'm going to put in Fahrenheit 451 as my nomination.
