Angels, demons, the devil, revenge, and some dry humor thrown in as well.

Kadrey has a gift for a kind of outrageous description that makes sense for the world he lives in. He displays irony of the hard bitten and logical, not snarky, kind in his work, that really makes it a delight to read.
His main Character, Stark, psychically is neigh invulnerable, and it is fun to see how he works his way through the more physical situations, but it is the exploration of stark's shattered, yet resilient psyche that is the best part of the books.
