Belen (belu) | 30 comments After reading about Fitz and the people that posses the Wit.. I wondered how it would be like if any of us could really have an animal companion ...

If you could choose only one beast for bonding with... which would it be? would it be a pet or a wild animal?

I personally would find interesting to share minds with a panther. Basically because my pet is a black kittie, so I'm thinking of a wilder and meaner version of him hehe

what about you?? :D

Kamil | 372 comments wolf all the way!

David(LA,CA) (davidscharf) | 327 comments I wouldn't mind connecting with my neighbor's dog, if only long enough to convince it I'm not the threat to it and its owners it seems to believe I am.

Alexpope | 9 comments Platypus. Seriously. I HAVE To find out what's going on right there.

message 5: by Ena (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ena (enantoiel) | 22 comments It would be a wild animal from feline family. I always admired Drizzt's astral panther.

Casey | 654 comments It would be one of the three depending on my mood at the precise time of choice.
* Whale
* Giant sea turtle such as a Leatherback
* My hound

Last night I would have chosen my dog because she was up baying at the moon until literally 2:53 am.

Rhenus It would have to be an owl a tiny cute one like this;

Whales a good one though, I wonder if there thought patterns are the same as their song.

Bryek | 273 comments More than likely it would be a wolf. Our temperments are quite similar. But then again it could also be a cougar...

Jonathan | 185 comments Dog or snake.

Jonathan | 185 comments Dog or snake.

Jonathan | 185 comments No clue why my Nook posted that twice.

Charlie | 12 comments A Sloth. I just need to know how they manage to do nothing all day without internet or TV.

terpkristin | 4407 comments When my mother was pregnant with each of us 3 kids, she had a lot of free time (I kept her bedridden for her 2nd and 3rd trimester), so she handmade each of us quilts. My quilt has a panda, my brother's butterfly, and my sister's a koala. My sister and I have kind of "adopted" those animals as "our animals."

So part of me thinks I'd bond with a panda (side note, I've been looking for a long time for a panda tattoo that doesn't look like the World Wildlife Foundation logo)...but I don't think people would describe me as "panda-like." I think I probably identify most with large cats, like a leopard. I'm more a loner than a pack animal (if I were a pack animal like a wolf, I'd be the pack leader), have a bit of cunning. And if you get on the wrong side, my claws will hurt...

Sarah | 7 comments I think I'd enjoy flying as an eagle. The book doesn't seem to have Fitz trying to bond with the hawks, does it?

Rhenus Sarah wrote: "The book doesn't seem to have Fitz trying to bond with the hawks, does it?"

He doesnt get on with hawks, its mentioned by burrich at some point, he "doesn't mind his own buisness enough for them", burrich portrays hawk minds as misanthropic/introverted so since Fitz isn't of that nature they dont get on well.

Rhenus oh if we are doing mythological animals then dibs on dragon...

Not that T-rexs are mythological.... :/

Do centaurs count as animals or not? is that a mythologically racist question?
What about minotaurs?

the minotaur's momma was human... and the t-rex? that was mean, you'd be all"" if you're happy and you know it clap your hands"

My dragon? Yeah, keep wishing

Sidsel Pedersen (macthekat) Great topic!
I think I would bond with an octopus just so we once and for all can figure out how intelligent they are. And more arms would rock.

message 23: by Paul (new) - rated it 4 stars

Paul Otter. They just always seem so happy.

Dwayne Caldwell | 141 comments Cheetah. I'd like to know what it feels like doing ninety without worrying about the ticket.

Gautam | 20 comments This kind of reminds me of the daemons in golden compass. Also i can't believe no one else would want a monkey. They are extremely smart and they throw poop.

Jenny (Reading Envy) (readingenvy) | 2898 comments Gotham wrote: "This kind of reminds me of the daemons in golden compass. Also i can't believe no one else would want a monkey. They are extremely smart and they throw poop."
I was thinking the daemon thing too.

I've always had a thing for manatees but that isn't very practical.

Justin | 5 comments Definitely a ferret.

Kamil | 372 comments Gotham wrote: "This kind of reminds me of the daemons in golden compass. Also i can't believe no one else would want a monkey. They are extremely smart and they throw poop."

I could do that on my own, thank you

Ulmer Ian (eean) | 341 comments I would want to bound with that most dangerous game, MAN.

Seriously, a person. :D

Actually it sounds to me like Skill and Wit are really the same thing. I've only read the first book, so please don't disabuse me if that's not the case.

you're somewhat right. (view spoiler)

Glenn Han (nahs) | 2 comments homing pigeons, so I wouldn't get lost.

Melanie (mel1206) | 8 comments one of my dogs, I would love to be able to communicate with her more effectivly.

Brandi (biddywink) | 23 comments Jenny wrote: "I've always had a thing for manatees but that isn't very practical."

I would go with giraffe, as I have loved them since childhood. But, just like your manatee, Jenny, it's not a very practical choice.

I think being a predatory animal rather than prey would be advisable.

AndrewP (andrewca) | 2668 comments If size matters, the GigaShadow from Lexx.

Valerie (valeriemae) | 56 comments A sloth. My life is so fast paced and hectic, I would love a little lazy, lethargic added to my mind...

Claire (c2111) | 5 comments I've recently been ill and bed bound and discovered my cat has a great life, so happy little kitty for me otherwise dolphin, flipper would be great all that freedom

message 37: by Leesa (new)

Leesa (leesalogic) | 675 comments I'd have a mischief of rats who could travel with me in my sleeves, in my hood, in my pouch, etc.

They are so clever, funny, portable, and loving, that I'd never be sad or lonely.

Jessy (jessyanelfatheart) | 38 comments I would have to say my cat or my dogs. Half the time I'm so connected to them I already feel like I know what they are thinking all the time.

Walter (walterwoods) | 144 comments Probably a dog. So original, I know.

A group of rats is called a mischeif? I love that.
my new factoid of the day!

Mark Catalfano (cattfish) Do I have to match my username? :(

I'd be someone's dinner within the week

message 42: by John (new) - added it

John (kilowog42) | 27 comments I think the best part of Wit is the fact that you can connect to multiple animals. One day, I'm connected to my dog, the next a rabbit, the next a horse, the next a deer, the next etc....

If only one animal, I would go with a ram or a buck, something with horns capable of attacking my foes, but still something fun and curious to bond with.

Madison E. (madiemartin) | 40 comments I would go with a big loyal dog. Probably a newfie.

I think it's just the easiest for me to envision because I've always grown up with a dog. They are that furry family member that loves you unconditionally, so it's easy to see myself bonding wholeheartedly with a dog.

message 44: by kvon (last edited Aug 19, 2012 08:12PM) (new)

kvon | 563 comments Zoo City had people bound to animals; the main character was bound to a sloth. I liked the mention of a guy tied to a butterfly.

Lacey (chasingom) I'm with Paul, I'd definitely bond with an otter. They always look like they're having fun and they're water babies!

A.E. Marling (aemarling) | 49 comments Won't you all be sorry when I ride in on the back of my Wit-bound terror bird.

Agrajag | 56 comments Looks like something out of Monster Hunter (video game series).

Dwayne Caldwell | 141 comments LOL! Sweet!

Ruth (tilltab) Ashworth | 2218 comments I don't think I'd want to bond with one animal. I'd rather just be able to dip my awareness in and out of whatever was around me, perhaps creating small bonds with various animals, but nothing too solid. It would be too painful if something bad happened.

message 50: by Scott (new)

Scott (smchure) | 47 comments A grizzly bear and/or crow (a murder of 'em if that's an option). Oh, a dolphin would be great, too
