I finished it.

This book wasn't as bad as some others in this series but also not one of the best.

One of my biggest complaints - one I already had with Retribution - is the fact that SK adds another pantheon/mythology to the Dark Hunter world. I think this is way too much. It's great that she has Native American blood and wants to honor this but a stand-alone trilogy would have been better in my opinion.

Most of the book felt like ramblings about myths, visions, gods, names, places, flashbacks, more names, places, flashbacks... You get the drift. It was boring!

There wasn't much action and everything was very conveniently solved over the last 30 pages of the book. Ash always seems to have the right powers that are needed, suddenly characters get powers right at the crucial moment, characters are stronger than others who - in my opinion - would never lose against them etc.

Ren and Kateri were both okay characters. It's not that I hate them but they are also not very memorable. We get the usual tortured hero and a heroine who does NORMAL things but still gets praised. The fall in love after one day which was WTF for me and I didn't really care about that.

(view spoiler)[I also think it's no big deal for any DH to get their soul back so why do they still make a fuss about it? Everything gets solved.

One thing I really hated was that Ren constantly thought how Kateri is the only one who was ever nice to him. This is not true! Buffalo and even more Sundown are his friend(s) but suddenly he forgets all of that so that Kateri can be praised to no end. I didn't like that!

The best thing were the cameo appearances of Sasha and Sundown. Nick and Ash are there as well but I don't really care about them. Cabeza seems interesting as well.

I'm glad when we return to the Greek pantheon again and leave the Native American mythology. (hide spoiler)]

so what was the big Artie info we are to be wowed about.

I honestly don't remember. Maybe I missed it among all the rest. But let me think.

Btw, the sex scenes were boring. I mean, if the characters tell me they just had the best sex ever, I'd like to see that.

I hope they are better than the scene in Retribution. That one just left me scratching my head, figuratively speaking.

I liked the book, hated and liked that it was so short. The mixture of the Native American along with the greek mythology was tough to digest and keep straight. Good thing I had heard of a lot of the Native American things in the story through another series of books, but still!

But I enjoyed the book even though the lead characters weren't as interesting as some of the others in the past. I think the book was far too short to tell the story of Coyote and Ren. It wouldn't need to be as long as Ash's book, but there was a LOT going on!

The last parts of the book were just kind of non-stop action..which I was thankful for!

I am heading to the library to pick up the copy I had reserved. Will post my thoughts as soon as I can.

so far I am enjoying it. It reminds me a bit of Retribution but I am finding it a bit more enjoyable. I do enjoy native american folklore. But I am agreeing on somethings with you but let me continue reading before I discuss the book.

Hey, wait, Adoore is right, wasn't there supposed to be some kind of Big Deal in this book? If there was, I sure missed it.

It was supposed to be some secret about Artemis...but really it was so tiny I didn't even notice it as such really.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who missed it.

Just started about an hour ago and so far it's good. I love how it's a mixture of atlantean, greek, and native mythology. Very cool....I dont like how its so preachy though.

I thought the book was good. I'm not gonna lie I didnt really care too much for an introduction of a new pantheon and learning about the native mythology. In this book though I'm more apprecative because it broadens the world more and its not just about the atlanteans or greeks. We have Gods, Dark Hunters, and demons from different backgrounds. Kenyon can go in a lot of different directions.

Ren and Kateri were just ok characters. Personality wise they didnt really bring anything new to the series. Those cameos made the book. If it wasnt for them I would have tired of Kateri and Ren fast.

(view spoiler)[I did enjoy those tidbits we learned about other people. Braith, the half sister to Azura and Noire, is missing because she's frozen with the Atlantean Gods in Ash's basement. Ravenna, if ya'll remember her is Hellchaser Zeke's partner in fighting demon and was Ren's nurse maid. We learn about another Chthonian named Ecanus...and that Savitar has serious PMS when it comes to other beings. (hide spoiler)]

Just finished it and I am taking a minute to take it all in. But I must ask, what was the big Artemis secret? Was it that she is was somewhat of a godmother (for lack of a better word)? She didn't even make an appearance which I was hoping for.

Overall it was a decent read but I agree Kateri and Ren didn't capture me. They were okay but not passionate.

Nick was fun and Ash is just not the same. Did he forget he has a daughter and granddaughter? And why is he still calling Artemis "Artie" if he dislikes her so much? You only use nicknames like that towards people you care about.

Like I said it was an okay read I agree with you Sarah about Ash he conveniently has the right powers for everything. He needs to get his butt kicked a little.

Yeah I think that was the big secret. I'm not surprised she has her foot in about every pantheon around.

They've got serious history together and you gotta remember they also have a daughter. He may not like what she did to him but he has to be a bit friendly to the mother of his child.

But this doesn't mean he has to call her Artie... I mean, WTF!

Okay, so is it only me who thinks the big thing is not THAT big. Maybe I just don't get it.

*shrugs* It is what it is. This is the same man who put up abuse from her for 11,000 years while still protecting and defending her. He's forgiving his brother who did him just as wrong, he's gonna forgive artemis too.

But no it wasnt big at all, I dont think kenyon should've mentioned it at all because when I read the one scene artemis was MENTIONED in, I was like "eeeh I coulda lived without that"

Wait, that was the big secret? Wow. I mean, I guess she's gotta create a stir to sell her books and all but jeez, I feel like it is pretty dishonest to say that there was anything significant about Artemis at all in this book.

True. If it wasnt for the fact that I was actually looking for info on Artemis and this BIG secret, I would have completely dismissed that info. I dont care that she played an absentee step/God-mother or whatever she was.

I agree I don't think the secret was that big of a deal I expected something much bigger.

Ash also wasn't that great with Artemis. I agree she was mean and abusive but Ash wasn't a saint he was pretty abusive himself. I just don't know I'm with Sarah why call Artemis "Artie" if you despise her so much.

I am hoping Styxx will get back to the ongoing storyline.

I hope so too, Adoore, and am pretty sure it will.

Btw, another thing I don't like. Why do the men always have to do what the women want? When I read the description of Talon's home I was WTF! But maybe that's just me.

What do you think of Nick in the book?

.....hahahaha the whole house was pink. aaah I hope he never has monday night football nights at his house.

Nick seems like he's trying to be more of his old self. About friggin time. I was really getting tired of his melodrama. I think his presence would have bothered me though if it wasnt for the fact that Artemis is Ren's godmother and is suppose to keep him from dying so she sends in her new pet.

Finished Time Untime and my opinion is that it is ok, but not great. I found it confusing, so much of the mythology, flashbacks, getting clear of a fight just to be yanked to another. I had to struggle to get through this one.

Ren & Kateri were ok. I must admit that the unrelenting misery of Ren's life depressed me. Kateri's back & forth thoughts had me confused. I will say that I did like the epilogue.

Ash shows up. There was supposed to be some big surprise with him but I never saw it. I finally decided it must have been (view spoiler)[his haircut. Meh, who cares? To me, that didn't even rate. I was expecting information of some sort. (hide spoiler)]

Nick shows up and talks to Ash. I am not a Nick fan, long tired of his angst, but this showed a slight return to the old Nick from the earlier books that I enjoyed so much. I was pleased to see that.

Big surprise about Artemis, where? I didn't see it.

Big news from Jess & Abigail? Oh yeah, like we didn't see THAT coming.

There were 3 tidbits of information that I found intriguing.

1) We did get a little info about Jared in here. Sounds like Jared is sliding downhill and giving up. :-( (view spoiler)[Nick says that he has seen himself kill Jared. In OSN it said that if Jared killed Nick, he would die also. So how can Nick kill Jared and not die, if they are each other's balance? (hide spoiler)]

2) Braith is mentioned. (view spoiler)[They say that she is imprisoned in the Atlantean hell realm and gave birth to a son. Oh really..... Wonder who the son is? Hmmm...... I'm wondering if that is where the first Malachai came from. (hide spoiler)]

3) Ash & Nick discuss Nick's mother. (view spoiler)[At one point, Ash says "I can't get your mother back now, but if you can trust me...." That sounded like to me that Ash can return her to life at some point. So, will we see Cherise again? (hide spoiler)]

4) Ok, 4 tidbits. This one was the origins of the Malachai. I always thought Noir or someone had created them. Turns out (view spoiler)[Nick's species had been created as servants for Ash's mother. I did not see that coming. (hide spoiler)]

All in all, an ok book but not one I will be re-reading. It was worth it to read the info between Nick and Ash, this gives me high hopes for more info in the next book.

Oh, please no return of (view spoiler)[Cherise. I never liked her. I think it's also too convient that Ash can bring people back (hated it when he did that with Kyrian and Amanda) and always seems to have powers that are needed right that second to solve a plot. (hide spoiler)]

I agree with the convenience part, I rolled my eyes at that.

I didn't but it could be a hint in that direction.

Btw, do you think Sasha's crush will play a bigger role?

I thought that was just something she tossed in there but she could be leading up ti a 'Sasha' book.

The Big Reveal I remember was from Nick. Which I think was the headlock on Ash without harming him. It shows that the events in the Chronicals of Nick are effecting the Nick in the DH books.

Nick was okay, he seems to be returning to his old self. I agree with Sarah what the heck happens to the men. Has any of them heard of a compromise. They do not need to become so docile.

Ok so i began and finished this book today... I think the BIG spoilers are the fact that NICK is the one whose stepped in to ASH's vacated shoes hes the one retrieving souls from artie... besides that theres also the fact that REN is a Mayan/Greek mix and that he was succored on a Demon nurse maid therefore he is also one of those OTHERS like Cael and Nick, also the fact that REN is as old if not OLDER than ASH. BUT the part that EVERYONE should have CAUGHT with this book is that the ATLANTEAN Gods were awakening which begs the question didnt Appollymi kill them ?

And lastly did no one catch the part where nick is point blank telling Acheron that he needs an anchor that hes deteriorating too fast, which leads me to believe theres gonna have to be a HEA for nick because i cant see SK letting him be expendible

I fear the anchor will be a chick as well. Wish SK would come up with something unexpected. But still, this is NOT a big thing.

hes like they say in my neck of the woods a mutt, greek goddess is mom, dad is mayan chief, truly sad child abused though... as for his hea i think it may end up being one of those rival type things
