Introductions

thanksfor the welcome Cherie"
I'm a little surprised myself! lol I'm so thankful to everyone who has invited their friends!

Where am I from? I live in Central PA in a very small town called Houtzdale
What do I like to read? I read pretty much any genre with a few exceptions such as biographies and how to manuals
What are your favorite challenges? I don't have a particular favorite challenge honestly. I do a monthly reading challenge in Gotta Have Kick. I recently finished my first scavenger hunt challenge in The Lost Challenges Group.
What other groups do you belong to on GR? Gotta Have Kick, The Lost Challenge, Urban Aficandos, Dresden Files, Shut Up and Read, Making the Connections, and few other groups.

OK, I'll admit, I ran to GoogleMaps to look up Houtzdale. I've never been there, but I've driven through Phillipsburg countless times :) We're not too far about, Angie, I live just west of Harrisburg.
It's nice to meet you!

Where are you from?: Idyllwild, Ca. A little mountain town in Southern California.
What do you like to read?: A little bit of everything. But I'm really into UF and PNR.
What's your favorite kind of challenge?: Spell it out!
Were you invited here by someone else?: Rachael!!
What other groups do you love here on Goodreads?: Challenge Factory, Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Kickass Chicks, and many more!

I love reading UF and PNR mostly whether it's adult or YA. I do enjoy some straight high fantasy books as well and will try just about anything. Angels are my favorite paranormal followed closely by vamps, then demons (including incubi and succubi), fae and then shifters.
Sherrilyn Kenyon and Gena Showalter are my favorite authors with Nalini Singh real high up there, too.
I'm not sure what kind of challenges I like best. Other than themes monthly ones, I still feel pretty new to the challenge world, but I do love them.

OK, I'll admit, I ran to GoogleMaps to look up Houtzdale. I've never been there, b..."
Nice meeting you too!

I am Gail, and I live in Manchester UK. I am the mother of three children aged 24, 21 and 16.
I am a writer of paranormal thrillers, but enjoy reading forensic crime, mysteries, legal thrillers. I grew up reading my mothers Mills and Boon books, as they were the only books in the house, until I was old enough to discover libraries, then the whole world opened up.
I belong to quite a few groups on GR, but am not as active here as I would like. By the time I put my writing down long enough to participate, the challenges or topics are finished, so this group is a brilliant idea.
I have a kindle keyboard and its my baby, I love it to bits and it never leaves my side. I have had it for a year and a half now, and I don't think I have picked up a paperback since.

I would say the Seasonal Reading Challenge is my primary challenge group with the Crazy Challenge Connection running a close 2nd. That group has sucked me into 5 challenges the very first month with several more calling my name. I am looking forward to my first team challenges on both CCC and TCF starting in September.
I am a married mom of 2 and grandma of 2. I have recently retired after 37 years as a respiratory therapist. I have always loved reading but read more now than ever before. I have poor eyesight (my eyes are 61 years old after all) so I listen to a lot of audiobooks via my iPod. I am my local libraries best customer. I prefer reading large print books but if not avaiable I will use my kindle in order to get the larger font.
I live in Moline, Il. Our claim to fame is being home to John Deere. Everywhere you turn there is JD. If you think of an US map I am located where the Mississippi River runs east to west with Iowa being north. We will be on the national news tomorrow as the president will be here in Davenport, Iowa (right across the river from us.)
Have I mentioned that I absolutely LOVE being retired yet?

I'm from central Illinois near Springfield & Decatur ... Abraham Lincoln country. Ashley, my best friend lives in Carbondale and it is a beautiful area.
I love anything that is a good story, but my favorites are mysteries (anything from cozies to gory serial killer types), history, biographies, historical fiction, classics. I love touring old homes and just last week toured the Mary Todd Lincoln House in Lexington, KY. Couldn't decide on which bio to get so I bought 2 of them! That's what I get instead of souvenirs when we travel. Feeds my addiction.
My absolute favorite challenge is the Bookshelf Bingo team challenge at CCC. I also love the spell ones from the monthly to unending, but those with a deadline I usually finish after they've been archived! LOL Challenges make my reading much more fun and I've been going through my bookcase at an astonishing rate since playing the bingo like one. I love it!
I think I was invited by Barb so thank you, Barb!! I hope I'm remembering correctly!
CCC is my favorite other challenge group. I'm in some others and have made some very good friends in most of them.

1st stop. Get to a grocery story and try some Shatto Root Beer Milk! It is the best stuff on earth. Only available in KC.

Root Beer Milk? I can't decide if that sounds disgusting or yummy. lol

It sounds odd I know, but think root beer float with out the chunks.

I'm heading there now! It was the challenge that made the decision to join easy.
Hi I'm Rebecca I'm married and live in Massachusetts. I like to read just about anything. I'm also fairly new to the Goodreads site but when I got the invite from Adele I decided to check out this group. Thank you Adele I think this will be a good group. I enjoy bird watching, reading[of course] football, soccer, hockey and baseball. I also enjoy traveling. My husband and I are planning a trip to Southern Illinois to see friends of his this fall. I can't wait to get started with the challenges.

Thanks Cherie this looks like fun. I can't wait to go through the challenges and pick one.

Thanks, Cherie - I'm quite sure I will find something here to enjoy - maybe the challenges here will change my mind where the challenges are meant to be fun (not work or deadline types - lol). Also - I said in my intro that I'll read anything non-fiction and I will, but I mostly enjoy fiction.
Welcome Elizabeth. I also live in the Boston area and have been here most of my life. I, however, am still working. I haven't done too many challenges either but I can't wait to get started.

RIGHT?!?! I'm just happy to have reading time.

My reading tastes are just as eclectic as my career path - lol. I love to read mysteries, action/adventure, suspense, thrillers, romance, romantic suspense, romantica, chick lit, humor, a bit of sci-fi and fantasy, heck I even read cookbooks for fun. I am not really into horror, dystopia or much non-fiction.
I love spell it and scavenger challenges a lot. I have a Kindle so I get most of my books as ebooks now. I have found that calibre helps a lot with searching for books I already have to fit challenges. I am in CCC, SRC as well as a couple of smaller groups with niche challenges.
With my background in accounting, I have developed Excel spreadsheets and Word documents to track my challenges and that really helps to see what I already have planned for a month or quarter or even annually and if a book will fit into more challenges.

Olivia - my goal originally was to cut down on my TBR as well. They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions... I think my TBR has tripled (and I mean that literally) since I started doing challenges. lol!

I have been an avid reader all my life. I will read just about anything, but especially enjoy mystery, crime fiction, romance. I have just discovered the dysopian genre and really like that.
I am a member over at Crazy Challenge Connection and have become quite addicted to the challenges. I had never heard of the before but now can't go a day without checking on them. LOL. I really like the spell out challenges but also enjoy some of the more involved challenges that get me thinking.

I like most genres, but don't really care for horror, or true crime. Lately I seem to be getting more into books set in the Middle East. Lucky for me, Charleston has an amazing library system.
The first challenge group I joined, The Hive, is a side group of another one. It's a year-long challenge with 100 tasks. It really got me looking into new genres and authors, and introduced me to the wonderful world of games with books. Now, a year later, I'm hooked on challenges, and get quite cranky if I don't get my daily dose ☺ I love scavenger hunt types of challenges the most - the planning is half the fun! My other challenge groups are CCC and You'll Love This One...!!
Barb invited me, and I haven't decided yet if I should thank her or un-friend her :p Sigh...but I have only myself to blame for joining.

I think I joined six more CCC challenges Saturday and I haven't even checked out the requirements yet :~D

I learned from the best *cough*Southpaw*cough* And Cherie, all I did was post the title of the book I'd just started. You didn't have to check it out :)

And the group looks up from their books and says
"Hi Sheila"
