Cherie (cheriereads) Welcome Lauren! We're happy to have you! I hope to have some challenges from SOS posted soon. We're still working out some details with the mods over there but I hope we'll be set to go soon. In the meantime, I hope you find some challenges posted here in SCC from other groups that interest you. :)

message 152: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Thanks Cherie. I'm sure I will find a whole list of challenges that will fit the bill!

I know I'm going to be accused of being an enabler by those who know me well *ahem* but ... if you like challenges, you need to check out the Crazy Challenge Connection. We have challenges of all kinds, several that have just been posted and will begin on September 1 :)

Marscha (mysterymb) | 10 comments My name is Marscha and I live in the Netherlands. The Crazy Challenge Connection group is what got me addicted to reading challenges, I love the idea of the second chance challenges, cause I missed a few that I would've liked to give a try. My favorite genre is cozy mystery, I also enjoy romance and read a bit of everything besides that.

message 161: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (cheriereads) Welcome to the group Marscha! I'm glad you found your way here. :)

message 162: by Dana (new)

Dana | 4 comments Hi. I'm Dana, a 41 year old working mom from South Carolina. I have been an avid reader all my life. I read almost anything, but especially love fantasy and paranormal. I would like to do certain challenges but sometimes get pulled back into "real life" with the job and Zumba classes.
I have a Nook tablet and a Kindle keyboard, but still love my paper books an awful lot. I love to add new friends on GR so send me a friend request and I will gladly accept [email protected]. :)

message 168: by JenniferJ (new)

JenniferJ I joined a few days ago but have been slow introducing myself. lol

Where are you from? Born and lived all my life in South Carolina excpet for a wonderful Summer spent with my aunt/uncle in Tennessee.

What do you like to read? I read ALOT of YA and Urban Fantasy but usually just depends on the mood I am in. I occasionally like to grab a quick chick lit or mystery!

What's your favorite kind of challenge? I have taken to the group challenges like Bingo, Scattergories, and Scavenger Hunts here lately but the good ole spellouts are awesome anytime as well!

Were you invited here by someone else? In a round about way I was. I saw a post about this wonderful group in S.O.S. in a post Steph made and came to check it out.

What other groups do you love here on Goodreads? Serious Overload of Series, Crazy Challenge Connection, Romance Readers Reading Challenges, The Challenge Factory, Nothing But Reading Challenges, The Lost Challenges

Anne (Booklady) Molinarolo (wwwgoodreadscomAnneMolinarolo) | 3 comments Cherie,

I fell and hurt my bad leg, my computer died of a virus, then Issac knocked out the internet until today.
I missed the deadline for the Battle of Bookshelves and everything :(

message 174: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (cheriereads) Oh no! I hope your leg is better. And, at least you have internet access again. :) Now you probably have a million challenges to update with what you've read all this time. :)

I hope all is well now - or better at least.

Connie N. | 376 comments Hi, I'm Connie. I'm fairly new to GR and definitely new to challenges, but I'm already hooked. Since I haven't been active very long, I keep seeing threads about interesting-sounding challenges and am so glad to have a chance to participate with this group!
I am the mother of 4 grown children and the grandmother of a 6-year-old grandson. We live in suburban Massachusetts, about 30 miles west of Boston. A few months ago I would have said my favorite genres are romance and mystery, but since being on GR I've definitely branched out and found some great books in other genres. I've joined The Challenge Factory, Seasonal Reading Challenges, Crazy Challenge Connection, among others. I'm so happy to be here!

message 182: by PepperP0t (new)

PepperP0t welcome Connie, yes you'll be insane keeping up.
good to have you Silver, have fun in your new groups.

message 184: by Natalia (last edited Sep 06, 2012 02:44PM) (new)

Natalia | 2 comments Hi!
My name is Natalia and I have been invited to this group by Cherie (Thanks a lot, Cherie, for inviting me. It was a wonderful idea to create this great group for challenge addicts).
I am from Slovakia, living with my husband, 14 month old daughter and cute little dog (westie). I like spending time with my family, listening to music, travelling, knitting, doing yoga and I LOVE to read. A good book, a cup of coffee and some chocolate…that’s the best relax for me ever. I read a lot…classics, fantasy, mystery, chick-lit, thrillers, historical fiction… My favourite authors are Coelho, Kundera, Ahern, Austen, Gaarder, Christie, Zafon, Larsson, Gaiman, Murakami. I prefer reading in English even if it’s not my mother tongue.
My husband has bought me a Kindle recently and I think it makes me even more addicted to reading. I love challenges, I usually do spell-it-out ones, as they are probably the easiest ones, but I am up for any kind of challenges.
Hope I can meet some great reading friends here so I would be happy to accept your friend requests. :)

And now I am going to join some challenges. :)

Yes, it is :). I've played a tourist for one day to take some pictures. I had forgotten how many people come here every day :).

message 189: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (engelsigh) | 7 comments Hi everyone. I'm Jennifer in Arizona. I love to read, and I will read almost anything - but my favorites are both adult and young adult paranormal, urban fantasy, sci-fi, horror, dystopian, and mysteries. I wasn't invited here by anyone. One of my friends recently joined a music challenge and it showed up on my front page and I joined because I love challenges. I am in a few other challenge groups, some YA groups and paranormal groups. It's nice to meet everyone and I look forward to doing some of these challenges.

message 192: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 27 comments Hi everyone. I'm Jackie from North Carolina. I just discovered this group. I will read almost anything but my favorites are cozy mysteries and epic fantasies. I belong to several Goodreads groups, including Seasonal Reading Challenges, Nothing But Reading Challenges, Cozy Mysteries, and Agatha Christie Lovers. I enjoy all types of challenges. The NFL challenge here looks like a lot of fun especially since I love football too.

message 193: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (cheriereads) Hi Jackie, welcome to the group!

message 195: by Amy (last edited Sep 12, 2012 02:29AM) (new)

Amy (amy_heaney) Hi,
I'm Amy :) I'm 22 from Yorkshire in England. Basically, I wanted to read more... so I bought a Kindle Touch... Now I can't stop reading lol. So I found GoodReads on my iPhone and started to store the books I read/want to read, etc, and now I'm exploring more :) At the moment I'm reading 2-3 books a week on average. I recently started my own Book Blog so I can write honest reviews :D

What do you like to read?
I mainly read epic fantasy, however I've also read historical fiction and liked it, the same goes for autobiography/biography (Katy Piper and Maggie Thatcher) and Da Vinci Code. I liked them all :) I'd like to start reading a wider range of genres though.

What's your favorite kind of challenge?
I'm not sure yet, I've joined the GoodReads 2012 challange and set myself a goal of 50 books. I started it late (August I think) so I don't really have long lol. I'm 18 books into it :)
I like the look of some of the challanges on here, i.e. "Schools In, Summer's Gone", "Covers, Covers, Everywhere", and "Out with the Old" :) I think I'd like to give them a try.

Were you invited here by someone else?
Nope, found you all by my lonesome :) lol.

What other groups do you love here on Goodreads?
To be honest, I joined two groups last night, and one this morning. This is the first group I've posted on so I'm still new to the whole 'GoodReads Group' thing.

Nice to meet you all :) Hope to read with you all soon!

Happy reading!
Amy

EDIT: P.S. I'm also a fan of the Star Trek books lol, how could I forget to write that! I've only read a few Enterprise and Voyager so far, but they are quite enjoyable :) Not the best books I've read, but certainly interesting and full of ideas :)

message 196: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (cheriereads) Welcome to the group and to Goodreads, Amy! It's nice to meet you. Let me know if you have any questions. :)

message 197: by Alison (new)

Alison | 3 comments Hi, I'm Ali. I work fulltime in the real estate industry & I am Mom to a 7/y/o & a 3/y/o. I've been glued to a book for as long as I can remember.

Where are you from? Florida's Emerald Coast

What do you like to read? Usually fiction -- work is pretty taxing so light reads, humorous fiction & mysteries are my go-to.

What's your favorite kind of challenge? I am brand spankin' new at challenges. Sounds like a good way to discover books I might not normally pick up.

Were you invited here by someone else? No, I just stumbled across the group. I'm looking forward to it!
