Lacey (lgroce) My name is Lacey. I am 24 years old, married no children, (I babysit ALOT) and a pediatric nurse. I am from Indiana. I love reading anything, but usually more fiction. James Patterson and Jodi Picoult are two of my favorites although right now I have been into the "end of the world" young adult series (I know, I know, I am a little old for them). I have never done a challenge before but I am looking forward to them as I am always looking for new reads!! I was not invited by anyone, I just got on my goodreads after being MIA for about a year and stumbled across this group. Can't wait to see what hte group brings :)

message 202: by Joni (new)

Joni Hi. I'm Joni. This is my first challenge group. I have been looking at several groups lately trying to choose one to join. The openness and flexibility of this group was so inviting that I could not resist. I love mysteries, paranormal, dystopian, and recently several biographies. I'm excited to get started on the challenges!

message 203: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (cheriereads) Welcome to the group Lacey and Joni! Jump right in to whatever challenge looks fun. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to post here or send me a message. :)

message 204: by Sam (new)

Sam (sam222) Hi people, the names Sam. I don't have kids, I don't have a dream of being an author one day like a lot of people I've ran into on this site (I suck at writing), I'm a slow reader so it take awhile for me to get through a book but I make it through sooner or later, I don't socialize will in real life (For some reason I don't have the skill it takes to talk to people face to face), I have 2 dogs (a Pom and a Heeler) and 5 cats (1 inside 4 outside), I watch a lot of TV, People think all I do is sleep but what it is I'm up when everyone else is asleep and sleep when everyone else is awake (I don't like day time I can't help it I just prefer night time).

Where are you from?
I'm from Kentucky, I was born, raised, and probably die here (Sadly)

What do you like to read?
I will read pretty much anything. I like Romantic Suspense but I don't like regular Romance books, that's pretty much the only thing I will not read. My favorite is Horror and True Crime

What's your favorite kind of challenge?
The ones that have no time limit.

Were you invited here by someone else?
No, I found it on the featured section of the group page.

What other groups do you love here on Goodreads?
http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/4... I seem to go to this one a lot.

Cherie (cheriereads) Welcome to the group Sam!

message 206: by Dee (new)

Dee (hatcherdee) Hello. I'm Dee and and I am retired from working for 22 years at a hospital in the psychiatric department as a ward clerk and then secretary/receptionist.

Where am I from? Beautiful Carmel Valley, California. I live on a small ranch in the middle of nowhere.

What do I like to read? I used to say I would read anything but "bodice-rippers", but now I have to say I will read anything (since I discovered paranormal romance). Favorite genres: mystery, paranormal, nonfiction that reads like fiction; e.g., The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson.

What is my favorite kind of challenge? I don't know yet. I just found out about all these wonderful things.

Was I invited here by someone else? Nope. Was just browsing and it all sounded like too much fun.

What other groups do I love here on Goodreads? I belong to five groups counting this one. But I haven't really participated much yet beyond chat and games.

message 207: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (cheriereads) Welcome to the group Dee and welcome to the addicting world of challenges. :) If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

PepperP0t welcome new members I may have missed!

message 209: by Liz (new)

Liz Fischer | 1 comments Hi everyone! =) I'm Liz, military wife and SAHM to three girls, 7,4 and 4mo. My husband is currently away for work so I'm getting a LOT of reading done in the time I'd be doing all that extra laundry and being forced to watch It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I joined GR because the book club I'm in keeps picking terrible books. =)

Where are you from? Currently living on the Crystal Coast of NC

What do you like to read? Lots of different stuff, mostly contemporary fiction, YA when my brain needs a break, and some classics; if it's a REALLY great story with clever wording, I'm totally in. I pretty much never pick chick lit or fantasy. Barbara Kingsolver is one of my favorite authors.

What's your favorite kind of challenge? Having never done one before...I don't know. =)

Were you invited here by someone else? Nope. I just joined GR yesterday, so...

What other boards are you a member of? Zero. =) That might change as I look around more but probably not.

message 210: by PepperP0t (new)

PepperP0t hi Liz, welcome

message 211: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (cheriereads) Welcome to the group and to Goodreads Liz! If you have any questions - about the group, a challenge, or GR in general - just let us know! We have a really friendly and helpful group of people here. :)

message 212: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (cheriereads) Welcome to the group and to Goodreads Katie! Like I said to Liz above, please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions about the group, the challenges, or Goodreads in general. Everyone here is really friendly and accepting. :)

Welcome to the group Katie, and hello neighbor :) I'm in central PA as well.

message 214: by Christie (new)

Christie | 24 comments Hi everyone My name is Christie I am from Jersey, now living in New England. I loved the idea of this group when I saw it and can't wait to be involved. I just started the NFL challenge, late is better then never right? I read mostly YA, but I will give anything a chance once.

message 215: by Alina (new)

Alina Ray (AlinaRay) | 64 comments Hi! I'm Alina, I work from home as a writer and editor. I have 2 kids. As soon as I saw this group I knew had to jump in. I love a good challenge, but due to my hectic schedule, I often have trouble finishing them within a given time frame.

Where are you from?
Just outside of Tampa, Florida. But I've lived in Maryland and Germany.

What do you like to read?
The list is probably shorter as to what I don't like to read. My favorites are historical (fiction and non), romance/erotica, and mystery (as long as it's not too gory).

What's your favorite kind of challenge?
I like the ABC challenges, and the geography challenges. But really, any kind of challenge is good. I like ones that push me outside of what I normally read, so I can expand my horizons a little.

Were you invited here by someone else?
No, I just happened to stumble upon y'all.

What other groups do you love here on Goodreads?
I'm relatively new to Goodreads, so I'm still searching out the groups I like :)

message 216: by Barb (new)

Barb Welcome to all the new folks :)

message 220: by Melissa (last edited Sep 24, 2012 02:02PM) (new)

Melissa (thrasher619) Hi everyone! My name is Melissa, i live in sunny San Diego and I'm a single mom who also has an 8-5 job, which I love but it doesn't give me much free time for reading. I will read just about anything provided it holds my interest. I like to get recommendations and I think it helps broaden my horizons. I have been exposed to so many books through recommendations that I normally wouldn't have teen a second glance at.
I would love to do challenges but it's really difficult with the lack of time I have for reading. It looks like this group is very forgivable if you don't do challenges within a specific time frame, I like that :)
I'm excited to start my first challenge, I just don't know which one I should pick!!

message 221: by ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (last edited Sep 25, 2012 03:22PM) (new)

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) Hi, everyone! I'm Teresa, I'm 42 and I live in Texas. I'm originally from Michigan but have lived here in TX for about 7 years. I have one kiddo, Tristan who is 11. I love challenges but I don't always get to participate because I let time get away from myself. This group has excited me beyond belief, heh. I found it on the main groups page.

Where are you from? Answered above!

What do you like to read? Books! Hahaha...seriously, my favorite genre is crime/mystery. I don't know why, I just get sucked in and those are the ones I tend to finish the fastest. I am open to many other genres, though. I am a moody reader so really it just depends on my mood. I like romance (contemporary, historical, some paranormal), general fiction, memoirs, some biographies, a little bit of history, and I really enjoy a good cookbook. Genre I read the least is sci-fi/fantasy.

What's your favorite kind of challenge? I like the spell-it-out challenges for the flexibility they provide but I also like challenges that introduce me to books or authors that I may not have otherwise thought to read. I like seasonal challenges a lot. Love to find books with titles or stories related to something seasonal!

Were you invited here by someone else? Nope, found you on my own.

What other groups do you love here on Goodreads? All of the reading challenge groups that this group is affiliated with (I was already in 3 of them before joining this one, then I joined the others after I realized there were more challenge groups I had not yet joined, lol), Seasonal Reading Challenge, and Bookworm Bitches is a lot of fun. I am in more groups than I am active in, heh. I should do a purge sometime, especially now that I've discovered a group full of challenges all in one place! Fun!

message 222: by Shirley (new)

Shirley (shirleythekindlereader) Where are you from? Born Denver, Colo
Been in So Ca for about 56 years and finally settled down in Banning (near Palm Springs)about 20 years ago.
What do you like to read? Started with Romance but since retirement the many different genre call to me.
What's your favorite kind of challenge? One that lets me read from my vast library. Not fond of buying new for a group read.
Were you invited here by someone else? No I was looking for challenges that would allow for my pace but prompting to read about a new place or doscover a new author.
What other groups do you love here on Goodreads? I have found all the ones I belong to offer a portion of "me" and when I put them all together I satisfy a need to voice my opinions.

Looking forward to great discussions and learning about new sides of the argument.

So happy to have decided to look around and find new groups to join. Not only does this sound like fun, but I'm looking forward to discovering new authors (or maybe rediscovering some of my long forgotten faves!)

message 233: by Yvette (new)

Yvette | 2 comments Hi, everyone. I'm Yvette. I am a middle-aged recent empty-nester in Southern California. "I like big books, and THAT ain't no lie!" haha! But really, I do! I like books that are thought provoking, have really great characters and vivid descriptions of settings, especially historical fiction or non-fiction. I'm new to the on-line goodreads book club "Bookworm Bitches", but I like the challenge format. This one sounds fun!
