Ashley Marie (darlingdoor) | 77 comments Hi everyone! I'm Ashley, a soon to be married (Dec. 1!) student affairs administrator.

Where are you from?
Pittsburgh, PA!

What do you like to read?
I'll read just about anything, but my favorite genres are fantasy (especially urban fantasy) and mystery/psychological thrillers. My all time favorite book is Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman.

What's your favorite kind of challenge? I love cover hunts - I'm a sucker for a beautiful cover, and have bought so many books I've loved just because the art intrigued me.

What other groups do you love here on Goodreads?
I'm active in the Urban Fantasy group and in She-Geeks.

Can't wait to start doing challenges with everyone!

Teresa Scott (goodreadscomknitknat) | 3 comments Hi, I'm Teresa from Baltimore, Maryland. My favorite genre of book is cozy mysteries. I will read a good romance or any book with a good storyline. I am not big on vampires or fantasy books.

I love a challenge that involves some type of creativity. I don't care too much for those that are too restrictive.

I belong to the cozy mystery group and the knitters group.

I hope to participate in some challenges that I missed out on this year.

This seems liek a fun group and I am looking forward to knowing this group a little better.

I do own a NOOK and never, ever leave home without it.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) Welcome all newcomers!

Hi! I'm Aki, and I've been hunting for reading/writing challenges lately, because it sounds so fun.

I love challenges that involves/requires specific words. I think that those challenges are the most fun.

I've entered four challenges so far, (for 2013) and I am looking into ones with categories, since the four I've signed up for are all the spell-out types :))

Any suggestions? >:D<

I guess that'll be all. Have a wonderful new year! :)

Hi, I'm Isabel and I'm from Portugal. My favorite genres are paranormal, historical and contemporary romance. There is a post in "The Lost Challenges" group about "other groups challenges", and someone mentioned the SCC group and I got curious :) I'm new to goodreads, but already found some very interesting groups with great challenges ideas, like "The Lost Challenges" and "Dangerous Hero Addict Support Group"!!

message 282: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (missie322) Hi all !! I am Melissa. I am a divorced, disabled, single mom of a son who will be turning 14 on March 20th. I will be turning 36 on the 22nd (uggh! LOL). Besides reading, I like to crochet and spend time with my family (my sister and her fam only live about 5 minutes away!). I'm a pretty open person, so if you want to know anything else, just ask :)

Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Michigan where I still reside. I did just move to a different town about 2 years ago and I love it.

What do you like to read?
I think it would have been easier to ask me what I don't like to read. I go in phases. Right now, it's historical fiction and memoirs/biographies. I can't tell you what it will be next week LOL.

What's your favorite kind of challenge?
I like challenges where you have to find a specific kind of book (e.i. with a green cover or has a child as the main character). My least fave is spell-it-out but don't think that is good enough reason for me not to do it.

Were you invited here by someone else?
I was actually stalking my friend Ashleys' page (haha not really - the stalking that is). Looking at the groups she was in (I'm in 2013 Reading Challenge and CCC also - she's a mod for one of them (Sorry Ash, can't remember which one). Anyways, so I was indirectly invited through the groups she's in! :)

What other groups do you love here on Goodreads?
Group I am currently a member of:
~ 2013 Reading Challenge (was 2012 in that year!)
~ Crazy Challenge Connection
~ Bookworn B*tches
~ Love of Reading
~ The Perks of Being a Book Addict
All of them are great groups with awesome people and I would recommend them all to you!

Allow me to extend an early 'Welcome to KC!' to you, Shellbelle. :) I live in south KC and have family that live in Hutchinson, so I'm familiar with Wichita. Go Shockers!

I'm from southwest Nebraska originally (Go Big Red!), began the trekk east in college.

I'm a huge historical fiction fan, but I read pretty much anything. Since I teach art history and write art book reviews, I read a good amount on that subject as well. I like mysteries - the Sharon McCone series by Marcia Muller is a favorite.

I like any kind of challenge. Doesn't matter what it is. :)

No one invited me. I saw this was a new group and, with my usual boundless enthusiasm, jumped right in.

I'm a member of the Crazy Challenge Connection, the 2013 Books! group, the Seasonal Reading Challenge, the Ancient and Medieval Historical Fiction group and the Womankind Worldwide Book Group.

Feel free to friend me if you like. This looks like fun!

message 289: by Liza (new)

Liza (lizashaw) Hi All, I'm Liza and an avid reader since the crib. I'm 43 going on 21 :D

I grew up reading kids classics - Black Beauty, Secret Garden, Famous 5, Anything Enid Blyton, Roald Dahl.

As I grew up I moved on to the Bronte Sisters before graduating to Dickens & Thomas Hardy.

So as you see I like the classics.

I also like Historical Fiction - especially when its accurate, then I get my fill of History too (second fave subject at school)

I'm always open to new authors though - they might be classics in years to come, J K Rowling is a great example.

I can't say which groups I like, except that I like a challenge, as I only founf GoodReads today. I will be having words with my friends I'v discovered here already!

Anything else you'd like to know?

message 291: by Asmaa (new)

Asmaa (asmushy) | 1 comments Hello everyone!

I'm Asmaa, 21, from Algeria, North Africa and a junior in college where I'm studying Pharmacy.

I'm a very shy girl, sadly not much of a conversationalist; I love to bury my nose in a book wherever I go, which can be infuriating to some people as I heard. My favorite genres are: Young Adult, New Adult, Fantasy, Romance (try hiding a half-naked man or an embracing couple bookcover on a bus or a children park) and Dystopia. Sometimes I read my grandfather's (may he rest in peace) Crime Noir and poetry books.

I'm a driven kind of girl, in my studies and real life, so I'm always game for a challenge, the hardest it is, the better. At this point, it is safe to say that I'm a crazy challenge-addict. My first challenges group is my favorite but I can't say the name *cough* CCC *cough* :D

It is nice seeing many familiar faces, it's easier that way for me to join a challenge and have fun with the other members :)

I've seen a lot of people talking about this group, and there were so many challenges I missed out but have been dying to do, so thank you Cherie for pulling this :)

Nice to meet you all!

message 293: by Lexie (new)

Lexie | 4 comments Hi! My name is Lexie. I just started checking out some of the challenges now that summer break is quickly approaching. I am a public school teacher and in business school in the evenings so I haven't had much time to read for enjoyment lately. I love reading all genres of books but my favorites during my downtime are chick lit, mystery/suspense and young adult fiction (I read what my students read). I'm hoping the challenges will be my inspiration to get through my insanely long "to read" list. This is the only group I have joined on GR. Thanks for keeping the challenges going!

message 294: by [deleted user] (new)

message 300: by Sandi (new)

Sandi Barnes Hi. I just joined this group earlier today. I am relatively new to GoodReads and have been lurking through the challenges in this group and others for several weeks.

My Name is Sandi and I commonly use Sada for online sites. I am just about 48 years old (next month) and a mother of two grown boys. I live in North Idaho and work full time at a call center assisting credit cardholders. I work the 3:30 pm to midnight shift and am usually able to get a couple hours of reading in during the later hours of my shift each night.

I'm off to post in the Member Corner and then one of the challenge posts so I can start one 12/10.
