Hi my name is Tia . I am 35 and a military wife , we have 2 cats named Puppet and Goon. We move every four years but I like constant change anyway, :O) or Im just learning to grin and bear it , who knows? I can't wait to jump into the challenges. I can never get enough of those .
I read horror, fantasy, and thrillers mostly but will dabble around across the board. I prefer to stay away from romances , chic lit, NA , and most cozy mysteries even though they sometimes slip in there. My favorite challenges are really creative ones that are left a little up to the imagination or how you choose to complete it.

Hi everyone! So glad to see so many other challenge addicts around. I never even knew such a widespread community of readers existed on the nets until I joined GR (actively) around a year ago. I hope that I can still join challenges here. I found this group through my other challenge groups.

Where are you from?
North Carolina

What do you like to read?
Classics, magical realism, sci-fi/fantasy, nonfiction (historical, sciences, social sciences), contemporary fiction

What's your favorite kind of challenge?
I love spell-it-outs and challenges that are progression-based. For example, you can't move on from one task without first completing the other. I also love any challenge revolving around food or travel.

Were you invited here by someone else?
Nope, I was looking for the Ben and Jerry's Challenge, and I found it!

What the groups do you love here on GR?
CCC (my favorite!), WRC, A Million More Pages, Novel Books and Reading Challenges, TCF, TLC, Nothing Better Than Reading, Book Nook Cafe

message 309: by Kim. E. (new)

Kim. E. Hi peoples! (Yes, it fits my mood today)

I'm Kim E. and live in southern Indiana in the United States. I can travel to about 8 states faster than it takes to get from Evansville to the capitol, Indianapolis b/c of the way the highways are set up, but we are working on it, or continuing to do so for last 20 years. :-)

Before I joined GR last August, I would have said my reading focused on History, Social Issues, Genealogy, and Mystery/Thriller, but I'm actually expanding to Classics, Fantasy, and Young Adult a bit.

After joining a million challenges this year, I am learning that I don't like finding words in books, and my favorite seem to be anything that involves color or Disney. Badges are fun too.

I'm in too many groups to list, but I'm calling this the "Year of Discovery" as I feel my way through everything.

Jingles, I have a question:
I know there are sections you can't edit, but are there certain challenges you're considering retired anyway?

Thanks as always.

Hi Kim! It is great to see you here!! Welcome!!!!

In looking back over things here from time to time, I've discovered that the challenges here don't really have a set or specific start or end date. Because of that, the challenges never really expire or end. With that said, the group is not really very active (right now - I do hope that changes, as I continue to work on it), so you will see a lot of dormant challenges.

I will go through at some point and start archiving things. It will probably be section by section. But I really couldn't even begin to tell you exactly when I will start that process. Certainly by January (which seems far off I know), but I don't think before that time.

I can tell you that I'm currently working on the Ben & Jerry's challenge - to move it to a new thread. That seems to be the most active challenge right now, and it really needs to be redone and brought current, so that I can set links, etc.

Please do not let this stop you though. If you see a challenge you would like to participate in, please sign up! I'll go one even better. If you want to let me know which challenge it is, I'll revise it (if needed) and set up a new thread, and I'll even join the challenge with you.

That way it brings the challenge and the thread currently, and I'll be able to set up links etc.

Sorry to be on long-winded. I hope all the info helps.

Thanks for joining the group!!!

Jingles, you are a an excellent moderator and an even better Goodread's friend! I will look over the challenges tonight and tomorrow and pick one or two that I really like and let you know about them. This group will get more active , I'm sure.

Aww....thank you for those very kind words, Kim! That's very sweet.

Sounds like a plan on the challenges.

And I sure hope you are right about the group becoming more active. It will just take time I think.

I started a year ago but didn't realize there were challenges til February! Once I did I have signed up for a zillion. I call this my "year of discovery" as I learn which ones I like the most and which types I'll do less of next year......maybe. Enjoy!

Welcome to the group, Sandy! I'm so glad you found us!!

I hope you are recovering nicely from the eye surgery. That would be very scary to me.

message 315: by Connie N. (new)

Connie N. | 376 comments Thank goodness for audiobooks! Even if you don't have to deal with eye surgery, they're so good for relaxing, when you don't actually feel like reading, but you don't really want to sleep. Welcome to the group!

Hi Dee! Thank you for such kind words about Wacky!

I'm glad you found your way here to us. It's kind of quiet here right now, but I'm working on things, so hopefully it will become more active.

Thanks for joining us!!

Well, so it's okay that I may start following you around in Precinct 81, so I can figure out how do to things over there?

:)

message 320: by Barb (last edited Mar 22, 2018 11:27AM) (new)

Barb I joined Precinct 81, even signed up for their challenge about joining the police academy, but was so confused about how to do things, I eventually left the group. To me, their challenges were more work than fun, and that's not what I was looking for.

message 321: by Connie N. (new)

Connie N. | 376 comments I agree, Barb. I dropped out of that group too. There are too many other good groups with fun challenges that I didn't feel the need to try to figure theirs out. The same thing happened for me with the BARC group.

Yes - Precinct 81 is confusing.

BARC challenges are just too difficult for me, is what I found there.

Welcome, Jordyn! It's great to see you here!

This group is a little less active than ACATT and WRC, but we still have fun here. I'm doing alot of work on it, so things will eventually get to where they need to be.

I'm so glad you found us. Jump right in wherever you feel most comfortable.

Welcome to the SCC group!!

message 324: by Connie N. (new)

Connie N. | 376 comments I'm here too, Jordyn, and I'm glad to find another spell-out-challenge addict!

message 325: by María (new)

María Mazzioli (mazzioli) | 10 comments Hi! I'm María, but I like to be called by my last name or any variation (Mazz, Mazzi), but you can call me as you wish

Where are you from?
I'm a Venezuelan fifteen-year-old, therefore my first language is not English; saying this I want to say that please excuse me if I don't redact correctly, but fill free to correct me, I like to learn.

What do you like to read?
I like to read books that are exciting, normally I find them in chicklit's, contemporaries, romances, young-adults. But I'm really open to any type of genre if the book is exciting enough.

What's your favorite kind of challenge?
A challenge that is not too long (like the ABC one, I'm sorry but I don't find that fun) but is not too short (like "really a book you've been waiting to read"). A challenge that has challenge to it and is open enough that you don't need to restrict yourself to a specific book or saga.

Were you invited here by someone else?
Nope, I entered to the Community tab and clicked in this group because it sounded fun.

What other groups do you love here on Goodreads?
I'm now here in Goodreads, so I'm not part of any other group. By saying this, I want to encourage any person that is reading this to thought me into this world of Goodreads if you have the time to.

Thanks for reading and have a nice day!

Pd. I had a problem with the email verification, so I'll re-do this; I'm sorry if I repeat myself and this comment is already up.
Pd2. I loved the 50SG reference in the "Group Rule" beside this post haha.
