'Daylight mercifully arrived although the sight it brought was perhaps even more frightening than being in the dark. Their boat, which at forty-seven feet had seemed much larger when tied to the dock, bobbed like a cork on the storm-tossed seas. All around them huge boils of white foam rolled and crested on the tumultuous surface. Under the keel, the sailboat rose and fell on a swell that dwarfed her, the steep, deep troughs dropping downward twenty to thirty feet, and then rising back to the crest where the obscure horizon appeared to roll like undulating hills. During the night, the winds had increased steadily until at first light gusts were exceeding sixty knots and holding steady at around forty. Spindrift flew in sheets from the wave tops, sheared from the surface of the sea. They each questioned their survival. Their only hope was to keep bailing and keep the bow into the wind and swell. Perhaps the 'Cozy' might survive the mayhem and stay afloat.'
This passage is taken from page 298, when the four occupants of the sailboat 'Cozy' tried to cope with a severe storm en-route from Jamaica to the Bahamas. It is just a glimpse into the journey undertaken by the four main characters in the book, 'Five Weeks to Jamaica'.

I'd like to post a link where readers can find an autobiography, an excerpt from my book - a new idea and very revealing - the cover and blurb, and a selection of reviews from all over the world
Obviously I chose the best reviews, being human, but I have been honest and included my current overall ratings -)

Doug, thanks for messaging the excerpt. It looks good! But, if you want to submit anything, can you do so just via the email address provided (so it doesn't get lost anywhere!). And, could you please also include the full name of yours that it is published under (so that people can find it), and a link to where they could get the rest of it (to make it a little harder for them to not get round to it).
Sarah, choosing the best reviews is completely understandable, and also completely fine, just make sure you do include the `honest' overall ratings as well.
Thanks,
Aimée
With a view to getting independent authors more widely read, I have started this mailing list/page. It's new. Feel free to let me know what you think. It obviously needs people to submit good things and to be engaged for it to work.
