Kaje Harper | 17365 comments I don't know the self-pubs very well. It can be hard sometimes to tell if a book is self-pub since some authors use a company name for their personal "press".

I know we have self-published authors in the group - maybe they are more familiar with what's out there.

Patricia Lynne (pjlauthor) I'm self published and have a bunch of self published friends. M.R. Merrick (like Rogier said) M.B. Mulhall (writing partner in crime), Chelsea Cameron, Thea Atkinson has a YA series (she writes adult, darker stuff too) the first book is called Water Witch, Susan Ee, Emily Casey, Karen Amanda Hooper, Lucy Swing, Emma Mills. I haven't read them all (plan too eventually), but they all write YA and self publish.

Ross McCoubrey (RossAMcCoubrey) | 7 comments I self-published (via iUniverse) my YA LGBTQ novel, One Boy's Shadow , and have met many other YA authors through Twitter whom I am friends with on GoodReads. Coffey Brown and Brandon Shire have both been very supportive of my work and write LGBTQ fiction as well.

I am just starting to get used to GoodReads and hope to learn more as I go, getting to know fellow readers with similar literary interests. All the best :)

J.C. Lillis (goodreadscomjc_lillis) | 3 comments Hi, all. I'm an indie author too; just published my debut YA LGBTQ novel, How to Repair a Mechanical Heart (http://amzn.to/Qe8iPE). It's contemporary YA about two boys who fall in love on an RV trip to a bunch of fan conventions. I've met lots of great indie writers on Twitter (I'm @jclillis), and I'm interested in meeting more indies who write contemporary YA. Ross, I just came across Brandon Shire's work; he seems like an excellent writer and I can't wait to read his stuff.

Nice to meet everyone!

Harry Rice (harirama) | 12 comments My self-published book, "Killer Pappas," is about an intelligent high school student from a dysfunctional family who is expelled and begins an unexpected career that brings life-changing developments. See harryricebooks.com

KB I self-published my YA LGBT book Awakened which is a paranormal YA book. Along those same lines, Jay Bell has some great stuff, I'm also reading a book called Caleo, which I cannot really recommend, because I am still reading it, but it is self-published.

I hope that helps!

I've got some books coming out this summer. I'm self-publishing in the Amazon Kindle Store.

On edit 05/04/13:
My debut is available now on Kobo and Amazon

New Swimsuits

Due to the nature of the content, some sex and light drug use I recommended them for ages 17 and above.

Danny J | 3 comments I self-published a book with another author, Shannon Dermott. Alliance It is YA and available on amazon and Barnes and noble. I can't really recommend any YA self-published, but if your feeling adventurous, and looking for some mystery and little more adult themes, everything I have read/listened to by Josh Lanyon is amazing!

Amy Burk (amykaufmanburk) | 0 comments I self-published my first novel, Hollywood High: Achieve The Honorable -- written in reaction to witnessing gay students bullied in high school. I wrote the story in support of the LGBTQ community and as a voice against bullying. If you want to check it out on Amazon, you can read the first several chapters. www.hollywoodhighbook.com Due to mature content, I recommend for age 16 and up.
