Marcus | 865 comments So, I'm brand new to the group and thus getting a late start but I loved this idea so much, I had to get onboard.

My tentative reading list is:

R- The Red Wolf Conspiracy
A- A Clockwork Orange
I: Dreaming the Eagle
N- Why People Believe Weird Things: Pseudoscience, Superstition, and Other Confusions of Our Time
B- The Year's Best Science Fiction: Twenty-Ninth Annual Collection
O- Les Misérables
W- Range of Ghosts

I've started two of these books in the last week so they are within the time frame. Here we go!

Marcus | 865 comments The game is afoot! Finished my first entry today to make sure I got the August read requirement:

A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess

First A Book: 20 points
Book Length 213pages: 2 points
Total: 22 points

Kat (katzombie) | 2478 comments Great start Marcus! I was going to read A Clockwork Orange too, but the first few pages irritated me, so I admit defeat!

Les Miserables - great choice!

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments Why People Believe Weird Things: Pseudoscience, Superstition, and Other Confusions of Our Time sounds so interesting. I've added it to my tbr and will have to keep an eye out for it. Thanks, Marcus.

Janice (jamasc) | 59936 comments Welcome Marcus!

Add another 5 points to A Clockwork Orange for the cover being orange and the word orange in the title.

I agree with jaxnsmom about Why People Believe Weird Things. I've put it on my wishlist, but I'm not sure I want some of my weird beliefs debunked. :)

Marcus | 865 comments Great! Total: 27pts

Thanks for the feedback everyone. This challenge is really fun for me so I'm looking forward to future challenges as well.

If I'm feeling ambitious, I might try to squeeze in another A book: The Complete Joy of Homebrewing While the front may not look very orange, that orange border extends to cover the spine and the whole back of the book.

message 7: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59936 comments Ah, Marcus... I hate to be a fly in the brew, but the operative word in selecting a book by it's cover is that the colour must be predominant on the front cover.

Sorry.

message 8: by Marcus (new)

Marcus | 865 comments well...the homebrewing must wait. That being the case, what say you of Artemis Fowl? Is that orange or gold? I can't convince myself one way or the other.

See my response in the discussion thread. :)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments But here is one that looks more yellow if that's what you'relooking for. Looks like you could go either way.

Artemis Fowl (Artemis Fowl , #1) by Eoin Colfer

message 11: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59936 comments JMom is correct. You could use this book for either Orange (if you read it in August) or yellow because it's set in Dublin.

Nice work! I'm hoping to do one by the end of November and the other before X-mas. I had a couple books that I have been waiting a while to read that I'm doing this month (creepy ones), so I had to put the rainbow on hold for a minute.

Good luck finishing up!
