MJ (zombette) | 545 comments um, the ritual found amazing. Damn it. Too many books and not enough time. Don't we all feel like poor Burgess?

message 3: by MJ (new)

MJ (zombette) | 545 comments Sounds

message 4: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments Yes, I'm looking forward to The Ritual. Something else to look forward to in my favorite month of the year!

message 5: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 1434 comments ughhhh...The Ritual does sound fantastic I just don't know if I can fit it in right now. I'm not sure when I can take the reins on my TBR list again.

message 6: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments I'm holding off on it and it's hard to do, especially since I gave up on Ancient Images. Started Black Crouch's Pines last night.

message 7: by Steve (new)

Steve Cecala Wish my library had some Blake Crouch books. I read Desert Places a few months ago but my kindle broke and I now I'm stuck with whatever my small library has.

message 8: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments Pines is really good. Luckily I have a bunch of his books on my Kindle waiting for me.

message 9: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments I bet your library has Abandon.

message 10: by Carla (new)

Carla Coon (carlacoon) | 55 comments Tressa, I'm trying the sample of Pines. I have this gift card from Barnes & Noble and hoped I could put it on my nook but alas they only offer the paperback. :(
Never read any Crouch - should I start with a different one?

message 11: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments Look at Abandon and see if it's your cup of tea. He writes more thrillers than horror. I gave Abandon 5 stars. Read my review.

message 12: by Justin (new)

Justin (justineaton) | 1099 comments Eerie was really good also although I didn't care for the ending. I have yet to read abandon, snowbound, and run. Other than that I have read all of his books.

message 13: by Carla (new)

Carla Coon (carlacoon) | 55 comments Thanks Tressa - Abandon sounds good. Haha the hardcover is cheaper than the Kindle. Arrg! My physical library is over two thousand books. Can anyone spell "hoarder?" Gotta clear my shelves.
Eerie sounds good too. I may try that first cause its more my price range. Poor author low on cash price range. LOL Thanks Justin.

message 14: by Justin (new)

Justin (justineaton) | 1099 comments I might be able to lend it to you, I got an arc though so I'm not sure but if you want I can check.

message 15: by Justin (new)

Justin (justineaton) | 1099 comments I just went ahead and checked and I cannot lend it. I can lend serial killers uncut, hunting season, stirred, or break you. All of my other books of his are either unlendable or already been lent.

message 16: by Carla (new)

Carla Coon (carlacoon) | 55 comments That was so nice of you to check for me. I'm so new to ebooks and lending and such. I have to learn how to do it, but I have What the Night Knows (Koontz) I think on my Nook if anyone wants to read that.

message 17: by Justin (new)

Justin (justineaton) | 1099 comments I am new to kindle lending myself, I am making a shelf on lendle.me and then I will work on one here.

message 18: by Justin (new)

Justin (justineaton) | 1099 comments Also, If you befriend Blake crouch on Facebook he gives out a lot of advanced reader copys to his fans that follow him. that's how I got a few of his books for free.

message 19: by Carla (new)

Carla Coon (carlacoon) | 55 comments That's really cool. Confession: I had to google arc, but I get it now.

message 20: by Justin (new)

Justin (justineaton) | 1099 comments Yea when I first heard arc I had to Google it, even though I knew what an advanced reader copy was I had never seen it abbreviated. A couple weeks ago someone told me they owned Edward Lee's brain cheese buffet but it was a dte that she bought before she got her kindle and hasn't read it yet, I had to look that one up also.

message 21: by Carla (new)

Carla Coon (carlacoon) | 55 comments Haha - now I have to google another one.
Okay I'm back 5 minutes of frustrated googling and I have:
Down to Earth??
Data Tech Equip
Data Terminal Equipment
Pages of Detroit Energy ??
UNCLE, Justin!

message 22: by Justin (last edited Sep 06, 2012 07:38AM) (new)

Justin (justineaton) | 1099 comments Dead tree edition. I found it right away, maybe it was dtb dead tree book.

message 23: by Carla (new)

Carla Coon (carlacoon) | 55 comments Oh so hardcopy. Got it. On Goodreads they kept calling it dte like you did, but I couldn't find the words just the initials.
Ok, I am slightly less ignorant now. Thanks again.

message 24: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 1434 comments I've always seen it as DTB not DTE. I didn't know what DTE meant either.

message 25: by Carla (new)

Carla Coon (carlacoon) | 55 comments Oh we all feel so much brighter now. I'm cuddling up with a dead tree tonight!

message 26: by Carla (new)

Carla Coon (carlacoon) | 55 comments Began Eerie this morn. So far so great. Having the kids think like kids is refreshing after Dean Koontz kid dialogue fiasco in What the Night Knows.

message 27: by Justin (new)

Justin (justineaton) | 1099 comments i might have to drop out of the ritual, i just realized that ania ahlborns new book the neighbors is out and i need to spend my money on that.

message 28: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments OK, Justin.

message 29: by GeneralTHC (new)

GeneralTHC | 32 comments I recently read "The Ritual" and loved it. I wish they were all that good.

message 30: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments I enjoyed The Ritual, too. It wasn't perfect, but it was a page turner. Chuck, there's a thread in this Buddy Reads folder for The Ritual if you're interested.

message 31: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (love4leo) | 137 comments I'm going to have a lot of time on my hands in December. So if anyone has a book they would like to do a buddy read for then, please let me know. I have a list of books I would like to read, but I'm open to anything.

message 32: by Addy (new)

Addy | 5111 comments The Ritual sounds amazing. May try to squeeze that in before oct ends.

message 33: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments We really enjoyed The Ritual. It's definitely worth a read.
