The Sword and Laser discussion

I need your help guys! Several years ago I checked out a book from my local library and only ended up reading several chapters I believe. I had found it interesting at the time and now I am wanting to go back and finish it. The only problem is I don't remember the name of the book or the author!

If I recall correctly, the premise of the book is that the main character had either read about or was told about a mystical sea creature as a child and now wants to hunt it and moves to Finland (where I believe it was located).

The book is considered fantasy and I believe it was released within the last 5-10 years. It was in a larger paperback form and I think it was around 500-700 pages. The main color on the cover of the book was blue and I don't remember any characters on it either. I apologize if the information is a little vague but its been driving me crazy!

The more I think about it the more I want to say the title is something like "Warren's Bestie" but Google and Amazon aren't giving me anything in the search results. If someone out there has heard of this book please let me know!
