Travis Swart Hi there Amy, good to meet you.

I'm sad to hear that you had to go through something like that, but encouraged by your faith to carry on with God in spite of such a trial. And what's more to raise a son to pursue after the Lord as well. He's working to refine us all for things to come, and I know looking back on a very terrible time in my life with a failed relationship that God was teaching me some very important things even then.

That's awesome about your son pursuing service to God at such a young age, too. I wish I'd found my passion and direction a little sooner, but I know looking back that everything happened in God's time. My journey into apologetics and finding passion for the Lord began with dating someone who was not a believer but who had grown up in a Catholic home. In my naivety, I decided to try and missionary date and started reading books on apologetics so I could better speak to her about the truth of our faith. We were definitely unequally yoked, and I could tell it would cause issues later. Of course, missionary dating almost never turns out well. I came to realize she didn't like discussing such things and I didn't want to pressure her unfairly, so we each moved on.

But my study started encouraging my own faith and later led to an in-depth discussion with an atheist on a military deployment. We challenged each other to read some literature, which led me down a path of studying all kinds of attacks on the Bible. It challenged me greatly, but when I encountered some powerful fulfilled prophecy (which is why I wrote my book), God really spoke to me and turned me around a full 180 from my doubts. Eventually I answered all those doubts and then some. The fire for sharing God's truth was lit--He said, this is the way I want you to go. It led to much more study, teaching apologetics classes at church and eventually to working on a masters degree on the subject. It's been quite a journey over the last several years, and I'm always anxious to see where God leads next.

May I ask what kept your faith going strong while dealing with that challenging time in your life? Thank you very much for your question and God bless!
Travis Swart My passion for sharing and discussing the truth behind God's Word provides so many avenues and subjects to write about. Whether it's directly discussing people's questions, dealing with challenges against the faith, or presenting powerful evidence for the truth--it's that drive and motivation which inspires me to write.
Travis Swart For many years I have had a profound interest in biblical prophecy. Much more so since I challenged my Christian faith and realized through prophecy that the Bible really does have God's hand all over it. I wrote From Prophecy Into History so that I could share my discoveries with others.

The catalyst which caused me to write the book came after reading parts of Josh McDowell's "Evidence for Christianity." In this book, I learned about the various non-biblical 1st and 2nd century sources which reveal facts about Jesus and early Christianity. When I realized I could show biblical prophecy fulfilled in non-biblical history, my book idea was born.
