Very simple: it's my life. Why my life? They say "write what you know". It was a challenge to me to see if I could turn my (somewhat) colorful life into and interesting book that other people would like to read about. I believe I've done a good job doing this

I was never sentimental before writing this book. Now I get choked up thinking about how long I've owned my wallet--when I bought it where it's been with me etc. I know it sounds pathetic, but sometimes this flood of emotion helps me write. Of course, it depends on what I'm writing. Sometimes I just have a good idea and I'm not sure where it's coming from except I'm usually thinking about a story or two I'm working on.
I've noticed that, when I'm writing because of some emotional response I've had, I have to be careful to check and double check my work because sometimes it's not very good.

Im working on some stories for my blog, of which, there's nothing posted yet. I actually wrote two books in the process of writing this one and possibly want to borrow some stories from that other book. Oh, and im working on a screenplay based on my book.

Well, i guess, read a lot. Especially in the style you wish to write. But also other books as well. Then start writing. I actually didn't do much reading in the memior style before i started. I liked philosophy and science fiction and some history. I also was reading technical stuff on computer science.
I thought i was a natural satirist and storyteller so figured i could just do it. Luckily for me i hired a good editor while writing my book.

I must say, the best thing about being a writer is you don't normally need a team of people to do it. Coming from computer programming, dealing with teams can be really annoying. Writing is just you and your thoughts

I handle writer's block in two ways: sometime i try to fight through it till i put something down on paper and will then come back to it later to see if it was any good. Or, ill simply stop writing and just think about the story in my head more.
