Hello Terry, please forgive me; I’ve only just noticed your question. I have no plans at the present to publish my books beyond Amazon; they make it financially difficult for me to do so. Being based in Scotland, I don’t know a great deal about the Nook reader. Nook don’t sell digital content in the UK. Would it be possible to download the Kindle app onto your Nook? That is the only way I can think you may be able to read my books. Thank you for your interest. I’m sorry to be so unhelpful.

Hi Freya, please forgive me; I only just noticed your question. Yes, I am currently editing book number three, which is still untitled. I don’t have a date for its release, but I’m working on getting it out as soon as possible. I’m so glad you enjoyed my work. That is good to hear. Thank you so much for your kind words.

My grandfather was illegitimate, his mother never naming his father. Her husband abandoned her five years before my granda was born and sailed for Canada. He is named on my granda's birth certificate but cannot have been his father. This was more about avoiding scandal, I imagine, and perhaps about eligibility for poor aid from the church.
My granda was a remarkable man. He fought in WWI in East Africa as a sergeant in the Seaforth Highlanders and even learned some Swahili. It would be interesting to imagine who his father might have been. Perhaps someone who, for reasons of class or propriety at the time, could not marry my granda's mother despite loving her. Perhaps this man was later my granda's commanding officer and had to send him into battle.

A prequel to The Blood And The Barley. A romance set in the years following Culloden in the whisky smuggling community of Strathavon.

I have written non fiction in the past, magazine articles mostly, and once researched and wrote an article about the famous Glenlivet whisky. This started out as an illicit operation in the wilds of Glen Livet in the 18th century, a family bussiness, along with upward of 200 other illicit stills operating in the glen in the 18th century. The story behind one man's struggle to become legal spawned the basis of the book The Blood and the Barley.

I would say just keep writing. Even if you are coming up against criticism or feeling like no-one understands your passion or your work, still keep at it. You are creating something that will live and will hopefully give pleasure to someone else or at least help them pass pleasant time in your world, and that is worth celebrating. You have left something of yourself in the world, your energy or life force, whatever you want to call it, it now exists in the world. How cool is that?

Depending on the weather, I live in the north of Scotland, I will spend time in nature or go for a walk and let my mind wander, it tends to guide me where I need it to go. Or I may read favourite passages from classic works like Thomas Hardy or Vladimir Nabokov, and find inspiration there.
