L.L. Thomsen She didn't back up her writing and the hard drive has just crashed! Okay, that was only one sentence, but bleeding scary just the same, I feel.
L.L. Thomsen I'd love to travel to Dallancea. It's one universe of 9 realms, all split up so that the races do not war for supremacy, but the protective Veils are failing and magic is damaged. There's a lot of hero stuff and darkness floating around. With Gods and monsters out to kill and sow chaos, I'd love to find out if the dragons are going to take an interest in the coming strife.
L.L. Thomsen I am on a journey of discovery, so I have got an old tbr pile, but I'm pretty much picking up one book at a time over the summer. I'm trying to support some indie authors as I go along. People that I will soon want to read are: Christie Miller, Justin Fike, Xanxa Symanah Wallace, Y M Lumaris, Erika M Szabo, Dorothy Garino... and then a bit of Andy Peloquin and Angel Haze.
L.L. Thomsen That is pretty much an ongoing thing. The Missing Shield started a fair few years ago and it wasn't a singular thing that triggered my urge to tell this epic story, but rather a set of circumstances that all seemed to come together at the right time. The Missing Shield is the forerunner to the Veil Keepers Quest series, so I am still developing future story lines and characters. You can read more by visiting http://llthomsen.com
L.L. Thomsen How do we breathe without thinking?
It's just a natural thing. Anything and all sparks the imagination - you just have to pluck the right details when they present themselves.
L.L. Thomsen Episode #6 of The Missing Shield. It's one of those typical writer things where you think you've finished, but upon returning for a final perusal, you realise that it's still a little chaotic and unstructured.
L.L. Thomsen Never give up, be realistic but trust your gut feeling. Be your own worst critic and do not publish a mediocre piece of work. Give it your all and only then can you truly say that you've tried your hardest to produce the best possible product for your intended readers.
Write, write, write. Edit, edit, edit. Re-write, re-write, re-write. Finishing a book is great but remember that this does not mark the end - what comes after is just as important, if not more. And toughen up. Not everyone will like your style and genre, but that's okay, learn to roll with it. :-)
L.L. Thomsen Living in a different world half the time and discovering where your imagination will take you. Oh, and it isn't half bad either when readers tell you they enjoyed your book and want to read the next one. It's a huge compliment when anyone picks up your work and decides to spend their valuable time reading it, and for that, I am always immensely thankful.
L.L. Thomsen I am not really often afflicted with writers' block, but more of a tendency to procrastinate. I am super good at getting sidetracked on the usual social media and I suppose the need for an indie author to self-promote has a great deal to do with that. However, the best 'cure' is simply to open my current draft and read a few pages of what I last worked on to sort of get my bearing and to get my head in gear, and then I'm usually good to go. Crucially, writers' block can happen at any time though and the best way to get through it is either to have a good stint on Deviant Art and/or Pinterest to get inspiration from all the pictures and sketches. When writers' block happens I always try to write regardless because it will keep my imagination focussed and my head working and soon after the 'knot' seems to untangle and I'm good to go once more.
L.L. Thomsen He is called Leo - completely the wrong name but it's short for Leonardo - a ninja turtle - but really we should have called him Chewbacca and chewie for short - that would've been spot on!
