M.H. Barton "An Unforgettable Melody" isn't my most recent book, in fact, it was my first one. But it's also my first published book. I decided to write it after reading a pair of fantastic stories, "Genie Chronicles" by Joe Brolly and "A Beautiful Wish" by 800ibgorrila. Their tales were the thing that finally convinced me to put some of these crazy ideas I had down onto paper.
M.H. Barton Much of my inspiration for story plots comes from movies, TV, and video games, all of which are passions of mine. As for characters, many of my characters are either extensions of my own personality or are based on people I know in real life.
M.H. Barton Currently, I'm working on a short story for an upcoming Halloween contest.
M.H. Barton Write what you know. Cliche as it may be, it's true and it works. Something that may seem boring and mundane to you, such as your job, might be fascinating for a reader. It gives them a glimpse into a world that may be completely foreign to them.
M.H. Barton For me, the best thing about writing is the ability to escape to a world where I can create as I please. After a while, my characters aren't just words on a page and become more akin to real people, since they're frequently extensions of different aspects of my personality.
M.H. Barton For me, the best thing to help with writer's block is a solid roadmap. Even if I'm filling in the details of the story as I go, as long as I have a clear plan of where I want to end up in the big picture, I can usually power through most writer's block incidents.
