Hi, Karen. I'm wondering whether you used AI for the most recent book covers for Cassie Palmer, and if so, whether you'd be willing to disclose it?
Karen Chance Disclose it? That is a weird way of putting it when I have made no bones about it. Have you checked my social media at all? I have been extremely open about it. I have also mentioned many times that I use the same artist I have always used for the book covers, and pay her the same thing. The only difference being that now AI provides the stock art, so to speak, instead of stock art companies (who also use AI these days, btw). So there's your ammunition, please feel free to attack me at will. But before you do so, also understand that all of my books have been scraped for AI learning without my permission. You also might look up Luddities, as a history lesson might help you at this point. Now, go have fun.

Karen Chance I'm very sorry, but the books didn't sell there. the French publishers dropped the series as a result.

Karen Chance Working on it now. My father was sick and threw my schedule very off. I just published Fortune's Blade and am working on Hijack the Seas as we speak.

I’ve really been enjoying the newer Cassie and Dory books that have been released on Audible UK. I wonder if you know if they will eventually release the early Cassie and Dory books and if the Lia book will be released on Audible too? Happy Holidays.
Karen Chance I'm glad that you're enjoying the audiobooks. I wish I had better news to give you. But firstly, Penguin has the rights to the earlier novels, and never released them for worldwide distribution. So, they cannot be sold abroad. And secondly, Tantor did not make an offer for Lia's book, and I cannot afford to have it recorded myself. I doubt that one will be coming to audio as a result. If that changes, I will certainly make an announcement about it, however. And happy holidays to you as well!

Any word yet one when Fortune's Blade will be out? I like the Cassie books, but Dorina is one of my all time favorite characters ever.
Karen Chance It's up next. There may also be two Dory books back-to-back. As soon as I know, I'll announce it.

can you please make a second Louis -Cesare book please and Short story about Dory and her father trying to find the dhampirs that Dory’s knows and try to knows convince them to come out of the shadows and go on missions for the Senate .? and what happened to the first Louis - Cesare book ? it’s not on your website or on Amazon or on Apple books so do you know where I could get a copy of that book?
Karen Chance There is no standalone LC book. There was one for Mircea and one for Pritkin, but not for LC. So I'm not sure what book you mean.

Cassie Palmer and Dora Basarab etc Audiobooks availability UK! Will we be getting the rest of the audiobooks on Audible UK as the US has them all? We’ve only gotten the most recent and the Cassie Palmer books are missing the Series Info on Audible.com the listings seem correct. I believe it’s a licensing issue as usually it’s the same vers we get in the UK as the US. Please pass this onto your Audio publisher. Thanks
Karen Chance Penguin has the rights to the first nine books, and chose not to make them available on a world-wide basis. I have no control over that. I have made all of my books available everywhere. I will tell Tantor about the missing series info., but that's as much as I can do. Authors have a lot less power in these cases than people think.

Will Enferno be the last in the Cassie Palmer series? I know it ended a lot of plot points, but it left some on the table.

Not really a question?...more an overwhelming show of support. I adore the Cassie Palmer series, and realized just recently that I picked up the first book in 2006 when I was just a bit younger than Cassie. Now here we are all these years later, and it's still one of the series that I adore over and over again. I've probably read each book at least 3 times. Thank you so much for continuing to write.

Bonjour Karen Chance, j'ai été déçu d'apprendre qu'à partir du tome 7 vos livres sur Cassandra Palmer ne seraient plus traduit dans ma langue. Ne parlant pas bien anglais, je n'arrive pas à lire la suite. Depuis quelques temps, il y a une version anglaise des livres en audio mais pas encore en français. Pouvez vous me dire s'il y aura une réédition des livres en VF que ce soit en papier, en epub, ou même audio? Merci
Karen Chance I doubt it, Laeticia. The books didn't sell well in France (or anywhere else, I'm afraid) so they were discontinued. I doubt very much if anyone will be reissuing them now. I am sorry; I really hate that they left all of you hanging. But my French is not good enough to do a translation, I'm afraid. :-(

Hopefully, I did not miss this answer earlier. Is there a reason that Shatter the Earth was released in Trade Size, rather than mass market? Will there be a release "later" of Shatter the Earth in MM size? (I have all of the books in both paper and eBook, but I also have limited space for maintaining my "keep" authors.). Thanks!
Karen Chance I am going to see if it's possible to get Ingram's to release in mass market, as Amazon only has limited sizes.

I love Dorina and her series is one of my favourites. I would love it if there were many more Dorina Basarab books in the future. Are you planning to continue the series even after the Cassandra Palmer series ends?

Karen Chance Sorry, I seem to have missed your questions, but thank you for reading! 1) Right now, I am working on the last bit of Shatter the Earth, the tenth Cassie Palmer, and doing the revision for it. 2) Yes, we are working towards an end. 3) I do not do spoilers for the books.
