Emmery Fox Write something you're not supposed to be writing, tell yourself you want it to be trash and keep your writing muscles flexed. It takes the pressure off and keeps you in the habit, stops writing from feeling like this big, scary thing.
Emmery Fox The Shire. I'd hang out with the hobbits, drink beer and dance on the tables. Or more likely hide out with a book under a pretty tree and enjoy living in a hobbit hovel.
Emmery Fox Having a place to escape from reality to and sharing your stories with others.
Emmery Fox Never give up. You only lose if you quit. Keep swimming!

But without the cliches, my honest advice would be to learn how to see your own faults as soon as possible and truly analyse if the kind of writer you want to be is the kind of writer you are really supposed to be. Are your goals for you, or to impress other people?
Once you have these things down, everything else is just about turning up every day and putting in the hours.

Practical advice; learn about these things and work on them every day (or as often as you can):
Story structure
Character arc
Sentance structure
Paragraph structure
(watch Erin Brock on YouTube for amazing advice on how to improve on all of the above).
Emmery Fox I have to write. I've tried to stop. There have been many times in my life it would have been beneficial to stop. I've even tried giving it up for something more financially lucrative. I have two degrees and I'm currently studying towards a Masters, but nope, can't stop. That's why I decided to finally self-publish my writing.
Emmery Fox I am currently working on book three of the Ivy League Players series, which will follow the 'You've Got Mail' trope. You've Got Mail is actually one of my favorite movies of all time. Along with When Harry Met Sally, Pretty In Pink and Amelie.
I love how you get the juicy rivals to lovers AND the unique trope in that movie. There will be no rivals to lovers in book three this time, but we will get some online 'friends' unknowingly meeting in life and seemingly having nothing in common.
Emmery Fox I love rivals to lovers stories like a lot of readers. The characters tend to come to me first, then I think up a scenario for them to find themselves in. I don't always remember where the characters came from - what inspired them etc - but once they are in my head, they live there rent free, pretty much forever.
