Goodreads asked Emmery Fox:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Emmery Fox Never give up. You only lose if you quit. Keep swimming!

But without the cliches, my honest advice would be to learn how to see your own faults as soon as possible and truly analyse if the kind of writer you want to be is the kind of writer you are really supposed to be. Are your goals for you, or to impress other people?
Once you have these things down, everything else is just about turning up every day and putting in the hours.

Practical advice; learn about these things and work on them every day (or as often as you can):
Story structure
Character arc
Sentance structure
Paragraph structure
(watch Erin Brock on YouTube for amazing advice on how to improve on all of the above).
