Cathy Burnham Martin I absolutely love writing because it lets me express thoughts, feelings, and experiences from anywhere I happen to be.
Cathy Burnham Martin When a brother forces the sale of a home he knows is owned by his sister and a now-deceased aunt, everyone wonders what lurked behind him inflicting pain and estrangement on his family.
Cathy Burnham Martin I am very enthusiastic about encouraging aspiring authors to follow their hearts... Even when they have to be their own cheerleaders.
Cathy Burnham Martin My latest project takes me into historical fiction. More fact than fiction, "Destiny of Dreams: Time Is Dear" follows a family journey through a dangerous part of the world amidst the chaos and violence that marked the waning days of the Ottoman Empire. The story of one family's struggle for survival reflects millions who have fallen victim to intolerance and become part of the diaspora. While I penned the initial story years ago, the covid-lockdown provided a great deal of quiet writing time, as I waited in parking lots week after week, throughout my husband's ongoing cancer treatments. In fact, the initial novel has grown into a trilogy!
Cathy Burnham Martin Quite frankly, I get inspired to write by going to sleep. My mind clears, and as I start to awaken in the morning, all sorts of creative thoughts and ideas flow freely.
Cathy Burnham Martin The passing of my mother's twin sister (often referred to by me as "My Other Mother," inspired me to finally finish "Destiny of Dreams: Time Is Dear." Now in her 90's, Mom stands as the last of three Gulumian sisters, all first-generation Americans of Armenian descent. I knew the story needed to be fully told while Mom is still with us.

The previous answer applies to "The Bimbo Has Brains... and Other Freaky Fact." That book's idea came during a Miss America Pageant -Patriots media event. A couple of men quipped that the contestants were a bunch of bimbos. I reminded them of the irony of that sort of thinking, since these young women are asked questions on issues from saving the planet to solving our racial divide... Quandaries that stump world leaders. I suggested that they watch out because these "bimbos" have brains.
