kings and assassins

Lane's novel, Kings and Assassins, is now out :) I was lucky enough to read it a few months ago and it's AWESOME.

Here's what Publisher's Weekly said of the book:

This dark and gruesome sequel to 2007's Maledicte compellingly illustrates the endless variety of human venality. Janus Ixion, former starving commoner and now the earl of Last, is fervently dedicated to bringing an industrial revolution to Antyre, a dreary, decadent fantasy realm. This goal pits him against his devious former tutor, Pri

arrr

Rita and I went to Appleby's yesterday for dinner. We were unbelievably thirsty and asked for water after water. Each glass came with a little plastic black sword. With two swords, we sparred. With three, I stuck one into a lemon.

And with four?

It was time to use the little slip of paper the straws came from to tie the swords to the salt and pepper shakers and turn them into pirates.

After staging several battles (including one where Rita snagged some pepper from the table beside ours and I poured

ergot reviews

Ergot's gotten two new reviews :)

Ramblings of an M/M Lover

Cooking with Ergot is a treat for romance lovers. Like mixing a delicate love potion, Luisa Prieto adds all the right ingredients in just the right order and quantity to develop an excellent romance story that hooked me right from the start and kept me turning pages all the way through. This story gave flight to my romantic fantasies and reminded me that I love "boy meets boy, boys fall in love, boys live happily ever after" erotic roma

teh cute

After a few weeks of being one with my laptop, I decided to get out for a bit. Now, I'm in New Jersey, visiting Rita and, um, hanging out with my laptop (it's totally different than before. Really).

The visit, which began yesterday, has been pretty fun. We've talked about writing. We wrote. We talked some more. In July we're going to go to TNEO (the never ending Odyssey workshop crit party). The first round of submissions came this morning. I've peeked at my group and like what I've seen so far.

post easter goodie

Did you have a good Easter? Bite the heads off a couple chocolate bunnies? If so, you might want to run . . . the Easter Bunny isn't quite like we imagined ;)

Kind of makes you wonder what Santa is up to, doesn't it?

Thanks to Jack of Tears for the link :)

crawling out from under the blanket

I'm happy to say I haven't spent the last week whining about allergies. Instead, I've been curled under the blankets, enjoying the sleep.

Now that my allergies have settled down, the world seems a beautiful, pollen-free place, and Ergot's got two new reviews :)

Coffee Time Romance

Take one kitchen witch, add a stuffed tiger familiar, mix in a seventh son of a seventh son and a killer witch hunter and what do you get? You get a very fast paced and super fun and furiously fantastic story that will ke

allergies

Me: two

Allergies: twelve (bonus points for nose bleeds)

On the bright side, the Claritin has been working its magic. Between it and the humidifier, my nose hasn't bled in a couple days and I can think clearly again :)

What are my thoughts about? About the writing and how, um . . . brilliant it is (crap! Crap crap crap crap crap! Revise faster!)

ergot review

Top and Bottom have reviewed Cooking with Ergot. Here's what they say :)

I think I’ve figured out why I love Prieto’s stories so much. It’s because she convinces me so easily that she understands what evil is. Real evil, not just monsters, although sometimes her characters wear that guise. She presents to her readers the kind of evil that ruins everything it touches and most often tries to cloak itself in justifications and lies, and yet, somehow, her protagonists prove over and over again tha
