Welcome New Readers!
Hello and thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoy my first novel, Welcome Freshmen. I had an absolute blast writing it and getting to know Jenna and Dave. A lot of people have asked me why I chose to set the novel in the late 90s. My simple answer is that my own college experience took place in the late 90s and I'm a firm believer in the old adage, "write what you know."
The deeper response is that I wanted Jenna's college experience to take place during a more carefree time in the history of New Orleans and our great country; i.e., pre-Katrina and pre-September 11. My goal was to transport my readers to this time and allow them to experience the magic of the area before all of the tragedy. Additionally, it was fun to travel back to before the big technological revolution and explore how we made and sustained relationships prior to low-cost cell phone usage, texting, and social media! Journey back in time with me to a simpler time and captivating place!
