HOW TO SLOW DOWN AGING AND STAY IN PERFECT HEALTH

What's the worst thing for aging? Well, the answer is simple. It's living. If we didn't live, we wouldn't age and/or deteriorate in health. This is not a joke, reality really is that simple. We complicate it.

But of course, we all want to live and enjoy everything this life has to offer. So, what is the point I’m trying to make? Here's how I see it.

My goal is to live a quality, fulfilling life, filled with happiness and meaning.

The first thing that comes to mind is that this is NOT A GOAL, but A PATH. It's a life-long path, which requires a holistic approach. This means it requires that we address all aspects of WHO WE ARE: the physical, the emotional, the intellectual, and the spiritual Self.

Today I will outline just a few important pointers. Then it’s up to you to research further. You can check out the many articles on the net, take courses, learn from others, or simply read my books, where I sum up some 35 years of personal research. Here's how I see it:

It’s all about knowing the Self and understanding the world.

Let me explain the basics behind my knowledge and understanding:

The only certainty in our world is CHANGE. From change comes transformation. In physical terms, this means aging and deterioration in health. But in emotional, intellectual and spiritual terms, transformation offers an OPPORTUNITY FOR GROWTH. So the goal is to TRY OUT EVERYTHING, accumulate as much experience as possible, but to smooth out, or slow down, the physical processes. So, what are the main physical processes?

Well, we breathe, we move around and exert ourselves, we consume, we secrete, and we regenerate. If we affect these processes RESPONSIBLY and EFFICIENTLY, we will minimize the damage and maximize the many BENEFITS.

- The most important physical process we perform, day in and day out, is BREATHING. Conclusion: learn to breathe properly. I found some amazing truths on the subject of breathing!

- We move around and thus EXERCISE our body. Some people run marathons and/or stress their bodies with heavy exercises and emotional outbursts, others do Yoga and/or go fast-walking.

- We consume: EAT FOOD. Eating means work for the body. Therefore, the more food we eat, the faster we age.

- We secrete: TAKE A SHIT (sorry for my language hehe). Healthy secretion is just as important as healthy eating.

- We regenerate. Most of us know this as SLEEP. But there are other important ways.

The whole point of today's post is to propose one of the simplest, cheapest and most beneficial ways to SLOW DOWN THE ABOVE PROCESSES and improve SECRETION and REGENERATION.

I'm talking about FASTING.

My favorite is water fasting. This means I don't consume anything, but water. In essence, we all fast for a few hours every day, but the real benefits start showing from 13-15 hours onward. So I do a meaningful fast every day. I aim to eat my evening meal no later than 18h, and breakfast not before 9 am (please adjust to suit your schedule). This gives my body a 15h rest from food. Then once every week or so, I aim to do a 24h fast, and once or twice per year, I aim to do a 3 day fast.

PS: I use the word "aim," because nothing I do is a "must" or done by force. I simply follow my body and allow things to unfold. This is a great way to be when you understand who we truly are.

IN SUMMARY

Regular fasting will redefine how you breathe, how you exercise your body, how you eat, how you cleanse, and how you regenerate. These are all individually vast and important subjects for our health and need to be addressed individually. But they all arise from one and the same quality: AWARENESS.

Everything we sense, think, say and do is a reflection of our AWARENESS. In fact, what we consider to be THE SELF, is essentially a flow of awareness. This makes learning about WHO WE ARE the most important subject in the whole Universe.
