Celia’s TTT-Writing Tips!
Woo hoo! Another of Celia’s Tuesday Top Ten. Today it’s about writing tips, for the writerly folks among us.
Simplify Descriptions! I understand that we (the royal we) want to create a setting, but unless we need to know that the wallpaper was purchased at Lowe’s, you don’t need to tell us. Same with the colors of curtains. And carpet.
“That” is often overused. I tend to cut them out as much as possible since they’re not really necessary. Try reading your sentence with and without “that”. If the sentence sounds fine without it, dump it.
Unless the scene/chapter moves the story forward, dump it. If it’s not integral in either moving the story forward or providing necessary back story, it doesn’t belong in your book.
When writing a short story, you cannot save the world. You cannot cure cancer. You might be able to safely escort an old lady across the street, but that could be pushing things. The point is, short = simple.
Avoid exclamation points. Or use them sparingly. As in, once in a novella. Using them all the time lessens their effectiveness. Really! They! Do!
If you end dialogue with a question mark (?), you do not need to then tag on “he/she asked”. “What are you doing?” She asked. Um…there’s a question mark. The asking part of that bit is already established.
Use contractions. Unless you characters are stuffy, make use of contractions. It’s more fluid and better resembles how the public at large speaks.
Keep dialogue tags to a minimum. Personally, I tend to use actions instead of dialogue tags to indicate who’s speaking. “What?” Griffin raised his eyebrows. ”Totally.” Wren nodded. See? We know that Griffin is doing a WTF and Wren is telling him word up.
Nodding. The only thing in your body that can “nod” is your head. So, saying “he/she nodded his head” is redundant. This was drilled (seriously) into my head by my verra first editor. Read and follow. Or suffer her wrath.
This is a two in one. Keep sentences under twenty words (seriously hard for me) and paragraphs under 12 lines. It’ll keep the reader “with” you longer.
So, got any other tips you want to share? Anything cool that can help us bunches?
Have a mwah! day!

Celia’s BoC-Dynamic Copyright in WP Footer
Me again. It’s amazing how I just keep showing up, right?
Today’s bit is just something that’s time saving and keeps you from having to remember to change the years of your copyright in your footer as time passes.
Like, I started writing in 2007. So, all of my stuff is copyright 2007 to today. But, 2013 is just around the corner and I can’t tell you how many sites I’ve visited that have “Copyright 2008-2010″. What? Suddenly your stuff isn’t worth claiming?
So, go take a look at your footer.php file.
You should see something that says “div id=footer” AFTER that, but BEFORE the closing /div put in something like this:
Copyright © 2007 -
title="">
Change 2007 to your start year, update the file and voila! It’ll look like my footer and you’ll be awesomesauce.
Have a mwah! day!

Rawr…Handcuffs!
So, I dunno about y’all, but I love me some rawr. Not grr, grr fur kinda rawr all the time. Nope, sometimes it’s all about ‘spank me baby’ kinda rawr.
Um,yeah.
Sooo… today it’s all about cuffs, spankings and rope. I know y’all are here for ze prizes, cause, hello, it’s all about ze prizes. ;)
K. Since I’ve got a captive audience, I’m gonna rec a few of my fave peeps while also pimping moi.
Me first.
I write funny stuff. And it’s hot. With curvy chicks. And furballs. Oh! Not all of the books have curvy chicks though since some are totally manlove and there is no room for pink bits in manlove.
Enough about me.
I love BDSM. Reading it mostly since only a handful of my books actually contain BDSM elements. I do venture there every few books, but my love leans more toward reading as opposed to writing.
My fave (gay BDSM) authors are:
My fave (het BDSM) authors are:
Whew.
Okay, the ULTIMATE OMF-ingG fave writer out of everyone is *drum roll* ME! Okay, not so much. But it’s fun to dream…
And, if you’ve gotten this far, I should tell ya that in order to win six awesome BDSM books by moi, you need to comment and tell me who YOUR fave kinky-writing author is. Rest assured that you won’t be disqualified if you don’t pick me. Though I will cry. Just sayin’.
Now ONE commenter will win: Being Lead, In Knots, Knotted, Office of Kink & Karma (which is a bundle of four stories), Rock My World and What the Cuff?.
Make sure you comment by the midnight on October 15th in order to be entered!
Have a mwah! day!

Release of Head Over Tail!
It’s out! Head Over Tail (Ridgeville #3 and the book you’ve been asking for) is OUT! Feel free to snag it at the following etailers:
Being kidnapped sucks…but then you find your mate…
Maddy Lane did not enjoy the whole “being kidnapped” thing. Then her knight in tight leather showed up to rescue her lioness-y ass and he turned out to be her O-M-G mate. Rawr. Sure, she’s a Sensitive. And, yeah, Sensitives are usually pushovers. But Maddy has been getting “badass” lessons and she’s got no problem telling her hotter-than-hell mate where he can shove his orders and domineering attitude. Of course, it’d be a lot easier to be growly with him if he wasn’t so damn sexy.
Ricker Croft, council tracker and ferocious tiger, can’t figure out what to do with his deliciously curvy mate. She’s a study in contradictions and he never did well in school. As a Sensitive, Maddy is supposed to be sweet, pliant, most importantly, his. She sure as hell wasn’t supposed to be a vicious she-cat who sliced and diced a man attempting rape. And she shouldn’t have disregarded a direct order from a more dominant shifter. Even more, the words “get the steel rod out of your ass” should have never passed her tempting lips.
Ricker knows that mating doesn’t equate to love, but he’s going to do his damndest to convince the woman who holds his heart that she can’t live without him. Even if it means turning his life upside down and embarrassing himself in the process.

Celia's TTT-Chubby Chick Pos Sites #bbw #bbwromance #fatpositive #bodyposi
I am *ahem* fluffy. Hard core, I love my cake kind of fat kid. All of my books that have female chickies (except Suffering & Salvation b/c that chick was starved) feature chubby chicks. Ladies who are self-conscious about their bodies, but their guys lubs them anyway. Kinda like my hubby. So, today’s post is about websites that are body positive. Their focus is love yourself and fuck everyone else. Well, not literally…unless you wanna…then use condoms. Because humans are not like paranormal peeps and CAN transmit STDs. Just sayin’.
On to the show!
Fuck Yeah Fat Positive. Because, um, fuck yeah? Lotsa pics of BBW chicks looking hawt. Not necessarily a big “fight for the fat people” place, but more of a chubby chick in pictures site.
Plus Model Magazine. Along with blog #1, this is all about piccies. But the chicks are all kinds of glam and uber hawtners. Woot!
Fat Acceptance Frenchie. A fat acceptable french bulldog who recently reminded us that having a bad day is not being anti-bodyposi.
Stop Hating Your Body. A total bodyposi blog with reader posts reinforcing that we all rock. Hard. Core.
I Love Fat! Pics, articles and general bodyposi stuffs.
Fatties United! Yes, they have awesome posts and what not. Total plus is their acronym: FU! That is all.
Uniquely Me. A curvy store selling bathing suits and resort wear. Because we can be smexy while swimming! Not *exaclty* along the same lines as the others on this list, but I LOVE that I can find somewhere to buy a suit that FITS.
The Fat Girl’s Guide to Living. Dedicated to helping chubby chicks live awesome lives!
Fat Chicks Rule. Engaging, thought provoking posts about… US.
Luvin’ My Curves. A fashion-centric blog on… fashion. LOL How to look good while being curvy.
That’s it! My fave curvy-conscious sites to make us feel good about ourselves. So, stop by ‘em, even if it’s just to say “hi”.
Have a mwah! day!

October News
So, this is the first update for October. I’ve pubbed Head Over Tail (yay!) and I sent Nibbled by the Vamp on over to my editor. *fingers crossed* that it’ll be out in about two weeks. It’s a fun, fangy romp through Atlanta with a fluffy chick who snags her very own Count Suckula. I’m tackling Fierce in Fur next and will probably start that at the end of the week, so watch this space for word count updates! I’m thinking poor Brute is gonna have a hard time with sweet Elise.

Celia’s Friday Reads-Seducing Simon by Maya Banks
Another week with another Friday Read!
Now, you may not know this, but I’m a sucker for secret-baby romances. Hard core. Whether it’s paranormal, scifi or contemp… I love me some OMG-I’m-pregnant-with-your-baby!
Did I mention hard core?
On with the blurbage (in my own words, of course):
So, our heroine (Toni) has smexy times with one of her guy bffs, Simon (duh). Now, it’d be all good if the f-er REMEMBERED. Doh!
Now, Toni has been in lurve with Simon for, like, evah. The night he breaks up with his ex (total ho-bag) they get it on and what does he do? He calls her by the ex’s name. Dude. What an asshat. (He does better later, though.)
Two months later, she realizes she’s preggers. Fuck. With ze baby on the way, she decides to seduce Simon. He needs to see her for her and not as the baby mama. And, score, it works! But then she has to do the whole confession thing and things get really suck-tastic then. Ick.
Ze Review
Holy frijoles! Okay, BIG MISUNDERSTANDING aside. I loved the whole thing. Fun characters, nice smidge of conflict and an overall good time. If you want something that’s not external conflict heavy and enjoy character driven fun-times, this is totally for you. So, snag it, read it and then thank me for the rec.
