I Am Thankful for My Fans

Seriously. Thanksgiving is just a couple of days away and I was reflecting on what I’m thankful for. This has been a rough year in many regards, but one of the few bright spots has been the enthusiasm and support you guys have shown. I appreciate it. Thank you. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I’ll be back next week with some more Vanquished commentary and some Christmas Advent news!

And the Halloween Scavenger Hunt Winner Is…

Well, there was a tie, so as promised there was then a drawing. The winner is: Stacey B.

Thank you everyone for playing! And make sure to stick around because I’m going to do some crazy cool things in December. For those of you who wanted me to post the answers, here you are:

1. Head on over to Debbie’s website and peruse her list of books. Which book of Debbie’s is coming out in December? Hot Blooded

2. Which book of Debbie’s has a mermaid in it? Midnight Pearls

3. Two of Debbie’s books were published 10 years apart (same month, 10 years apart). Which two are they? Wicked: Witch and Kiss of Death. (However, I also accepted The Thirteenth Sacrifice since the UK version was published in the same month as Kiss of Death.)

4. When does the third Kiss book come out? 2013

5. Check out Debbie’s first episode of The Thirteenth Hour podcast. What are two reasons that Debbie likes the number 13? I like spooky things, I got 13 rejection letters before publishing, 13 chapters in each Wicked book, the clock at the Haunted Mansion

6. What movie is on BOTH Debbie’s top 10 favorites list and her top 10 rewatchable list? True Lies

7-9. Who was the lead actress in that movie? In 2002 she was in a film whose title shared a word in common with one of Debbie’s book titles. What is that word? What image is on the cover of that book? Jamie Lee Curtis, Resurrection, Glowing Cat’s Eyes

10. Search around Debbie’s website some more. Find the FAQ. What song by the band Petra is mentioned? Creed

11. What is the name of Debbie’s husband’s podcast? Dr. Geek’s Laboratory (bonus was given if you also got Articles of the Shadow Proclamation)

12. What is the name of Debbie’s cat? (spelling counts!) Okay, this is hugely embarassing. I did not realize my baby’s name was misspelled on the website until the answers started coming in. It has since been fixed. The correct spelling of his name is Schrödinger, but I took any spelling because of the error.

13. Head on over to Amazon. Type Debbie Viguie into the search box. On the left hand side of the page, under the Department heading Books notice the third subsection listed. That subsection refers to only one of Debbie’s series. Name the third book in that series. Lie Down in Green Pastures

Anyone who helps me get one of the ones I need gets 2 free signed books of their choice. If any of the following apply to you and you’re willing to help out in the next 48 hours, please email me at [email protected]. Does anyone:

Have connections to an orchestra or choir with a…good sense of humor?

Know anyone in broadcasting even on a very local level?

Have access to a regulation ski jump?

Know anyone with mariachi clothes?

Have or know anyone with a traditional style Shaker dress?

Know a rockband who is performing this weekend to a large crowd?

Have access to a blimp or hot air balloon?

Have an “in” to paint a large unicorn on a military transport truck with permission?

Know postal workers?

Know an Olympian who has won gold or silver?

Have access to a live monkey or ape?

Know a fireman with a sense of humor?

I might post some more things I’m looking for tomorrow, but please, if you can possibly help with any of these, please let me know ASAP!! Thank you! The scavenger hunt helps raise awareness for the charity Random Act which promotes random acts of kindness great and small the world over.

Random Acts is an amazing charity created by Misha Collins, an actor on Supernatural. They are trying to break a world record on how many people they can get to pledge to do a random act of kindness (which can be anything.) Please pledge and PLEASE give them my email as the referral. This will help my scavenger hunt team win points. My referring email is [email protected]

Halloween Scavenger Hunt is Closed!

Thanks for participating everyone! I’ll announce the winner in a couple of days.

Meanwhile, Halloween may be over, but it’s not forgotten. I wrote an original Halloween poem for Tara, one of my 31 Days of Halloween winners, and she gave me permission to share it with the rest of you. Enjoy!

The Haunting of Tara

By Debbie Viguié

The air grows chill, the night grows dark

Skeletal trees stand so bare and stark

A brown-haired figure creeps through the night

Tara is out, searching for a good fright

So through the dark she walks and walks

Unaware that behind her a creature stalks

A nightmare figure with a pumpkin for a head

The Headless Horseman is back from the dead

Heather and Christy wait for Tara to arrive

To a party nearby where scary movies strive

To terrify even the hardiest soul

But Tara might not make it there whole

Because behind her the Horseman still rides

Coming closer with his horse’s long strides

Now he reaches out a black gloved fist

And cruelly seizes her around the wrist

Tara screams and runs for her life

The terror twisting in her like a knife

She veers to the left and runs through a door

Her feet skid on a dusty marble floor

The specter has chased her into a haunted house

With ghosts and cobwebs and a red-eyed mouse

Tara must choose as she sees a skeleton grin

Be beheaded outside or murdered within?

What happened next is legend, it’s true

For in a moment out that door Tara flew

So quick she startled both rider and beast

And escaping them made it to her Halloween feast
