#Interview Kelsie Stelting

Hi, guys! How are you? I am super excited to host a new interview on my blog! For those of you who missed it, you can check the interview to Sci-Fi author Sean Pól MacÚisdin here. Today, we are going to meet YA romance author Kelsie Stelting.

Q. Welcome to the blog! Briefly introduce yourself and tell us what genre(s) you write.

A. Hi! My name is Kelsie Stelting – I’m a perpetually curious writer who loves creating young adult romance readers can escape to and vacation in.

Q. Are you a self-published author or traditionally published? What’s the first book you published?

A. My first book, Raising the West, made me a self-published author. Now, I have two books and three novellas with my name on the cover!

Q. What’s the first book that had an impact in your life and how?

A. The first book that had an impact in my life was “The Foot Book” by Dr. Seuss. I don’t remember this, but my parents read and re-read that book to me. As I got older, the Harry Potter books were the first big chapter books I remember reading.

Q. If one of your books turned into a movie, which one would it be? Which actors would have the lead roles? Who would direct it?

A. This is a great question, and very difficult since I write YA romance! I’d love to have Unfair Catch be a movie, with Jesse Metcalfe leading as Rhett, and Izabela Vidovic as Savannah!

Q. If you could be a book character for a day, who would you be? Why?

A. I’d love to be Hermione Granger—beautiful, brilliant, and handy with a wand! What else could you ask for?

Q. As an author, what are the hardest scenes or topics to write about?

A. The hardest topic for me to write about are things that trigger my PTSD or bullying and isolation because I felt so much of that in high school. I try hard to write books that are as trigger-free as possible, so readers feel safe when they pick up my books.

Q. If you had two minutes to speak to all your readers, what would you tell them?

A. I would tell them thank you for trusting me with their imaginations, that I pray for them regularly, that I wish them all the happiness in this world, and that I’m here any time one of them wants to chat!

Thanks so much Kelsie for taking the time to share your work with us and answer our questions! You can reach Kelsie on Amazon, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest and her Website.

Thanks for reading!

Books to read when you are in a slump

I just discovered this awesome idea hosted by Ally’s blog.

This week’s topic is: Books to read when you are in a slump. Let’s do it!

The Distance Between Us, by Kassie West. It’s just funny, sweet, tender and I love it! It always puts a smile on my face.
One Hundred Years of Solitude, by Gabriel García Marquez. I think I read this book at least 6 times and I always pick it up when I’m feeling existentialist for some reason.
The Notebook, by Nicholas Sparks. If I want a book to make me cry a lot, of sadness and happiness, this is what I pick.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, by J. K. Rowling. This is the first book ever to make me cry and not out of sadness so I really cherish it.

I love doing this kind of posts, so thanks to the bloggers who come up with these initiaves ^^

I also invite you to check out my previous post about my debut novel ^^

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious news!!

· “Life is giving us a second chance to right our wrongs. But we can’t if we don’t start with the truth.” ·

Hi, guys, how are you? I am having the most exciting day of my life so far!!! I just published my baby book, Just For a While and I wanted to share it with you first ^^

Let me start by introducing my beautiful baby ♥ and by saying that if you enjoy Nicholas Sparks’ “The Last Song” and Sarah Dessen stories, you’ll definitely enjoy this one =)

Charlotte Harrington is capable of love, but the feelings of love, of letting anyone close to her, scare her.

Seventeen-year-old Charlotte’s life turns brusquely when her mother sends her away to spend the summer before college with her father—a man she knows nothing about and cares even less for. Thus, forced by a promise she made to her mom, and having secretly thrown her future away, Charlie finds herself stuck for an indefinite time in the coastal town of Rosetown. Raised by a single mother, Charlotte grew up to be an independent, suspicious, and lonely girl. To make matters worse, she is stubborn to the bone. Moving in with Daniel proves to be a challenge for both of them, as he will try his best to get to know her, and she will systematically undo his every attempt.

When Misha Breckenridge literally bumps into her life, along with his mesmerizing black eyes and his challenging ways, Charlotte finds herself stepping in quicksand. Despite her attempts to keep him —and every other person, for that matter—at a safe distance, Misha will soon find his way into her heart, making her lower her guard and open her long-closed heart to love.

As the summer unfolds, Rosetown and its memorable inhabitants inevitably start to grow on Charlotte. But, will she ever manage to forgive Daniel for walking out on her and her mother? Will she be able to let him into her heart and her life?

“Just For A While” is Zøe Haslie’s debut novel, a tale of love, friendship, struggling familiar relationships and, above all, forgiveness.

TTT Bookish Resolutions 2018

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Today’s topic: Bookish Resolutions for 2018!

Work a lot on my bookish blog ^^
Review at least 3 books a month
Read more books from self-published authors
Publish my first novel ♥
Finish writing my second novel
Stop forcing myself to finish books I don’t enjoy reading
Get a Kindle! As of lately, I do most of my reading on the computer since my Tablet broke down and I haven’t been able to replace it yet. But reading in the computer is not comfy, no matter how good the book is!
Explore new genres. I love YA, but this year I would love to read some non-fiction books and new genres.
Support indie authors
Read more classics

I’m looking forwards to reading all of your bookish resolutions!

#Review Along for the Ride, Sarah Dessen

· “If you’re not getting hurt, you’re not riding hard enough.” ·

Sarah Dessen’s “Along for the Ride” is a sweet book that I really enjoyed. It starts off a bit slow, and you kind of hate Auden’s parents all the way till the end, but when the story starts to kick off, it’s hard to put the book down.

Of course, it all starts in the summer ♥. After graduating high-school, Auden goes to spend her last summer before college to Colby, with her dad, her new step-mom and her newly born sister. Thus, Aunden, who spent most of her life hiding behind books and being an A student, has the opportunity of living a summer of second choices.

And, as the story unfolds, she also has the opportunity of leaving behind her typical attitude towards difficulties:

[image error]During this summer, Auden gets to know her step-mom, who she had terribly misjudged, make friends for the first time, get to know the girls’ world and fall in love with Eli, the boy who works in the bike parlour across the street. As Eli and Auden have trouble sleeping, they soon find themselves spending the sleepless nights together.

And during the summer, Auden will have some epiphanies when she’s forced to go through the same situations she went through in the past, situations she couldn’t fully grasp or process at the time. Now, with another maturity and a new perspective, she can’t closer her eyes to the things she couldn’t see before.

All in all, “Along for the Ride” contains a bit of drama, a bit of romance, a bit of friendship, and a fair share of irresponsible and idiotic parents, key elements in a good story from Sarah Dessen. I really enjoyed the book, and I hope you enjoy it as well ^^

Bonus quotes:

☼ “People don’t change. If anything, you get more set in your ways as you get older, not less.”

☼ “Relationships dont always make sense. Especially from the outside.”

☼ “Life is full of screwups. You’re supposed to fail sometimes. It’s a required part of the human existance.”

☼ “An ending was an ending. No matter how many pages of sentences and paragraphs of great stories led up to it, it would always have the last word.”

#Review “The Longest Ride”, by Nicholas Sparks

“If there is a heaven, we will find each other again, for there is no heaven without you.”

[image error]The Longest Ride is a sweet novel based on two love stories: one that happened in the past (that of Ruth and Ira) and one happening in the present (that of Sophia and Luke), perhaps aiming to highlight the importance of love in every way and temporary space and teach us that love requieres sacrifice.

[image error]On the one side, we have Ruth and Ira, who are two jewish inmigrants whose families arrived in North Carolina escaping the holocaust and are trying to leave behind a tormented past, full of pain and loss. These two characters will obviously fall in love, irremediably, and their love will have to overcome obstacles such as war, economic difficulties and starting over in a new country with a different language.

Now, nine years after the death of his beloved whife, Ira remembers their love story and teaches us about the importance of trust, holding on to good things in life and not getting caught in a stormy past while he patiently waits to be reunited with Ruth.

On the other side, Luke and Sophia come from different worlds: while he owns a ranch with his mom and they are going through economic difficulties, Luke risks his life riding bulls in rodeos to gather the money he needs to save his mother’s state. Sophie is an art student at college, she is the daghter of Slovakian immigrants raised in New Jersey and dreams of working as a curator in a museum. When she breaks up with her boyfriend, Brian, who cheated on her on several ocassions, her roomie insists they go out to the rodeo where she meets Luke.

Eventually, both stories meet in the present and the novel reaches the ending.

Reading this book was very nice. Personally, I could relate to a lot of my granpa’s stories, which made the experience even sweeter for me!

Here are some quotes from the book:

“If we’d never met, I think I would have known my life wasn’t complete. And I would have wandered the world in search of you, even if I didn’t know who I was looking for.”

“Trust people, until they give you a reason not to. And then never turn your back.”

“Remember me with joy, for this is how I always thought of you. That is what I want, more than anything. I want you to smile when you think of me. And in your smile, I will live forever.”

“I know I’m not going to be able to change the world, but I think it’s important to try to make a difference.”
