Cameron Lee DeCessna was born in Cumberland, Maryland in 1951 where he lived as an only child with his parents in a semi-rural location near Cumberland. He holds fond memories of that region and often uses those memories for the settings of his books. At age eight, his family moved to Miami, Florida where he attended grade school and junior high. When he was fourteen, the family moved northward to West Hollywood, Florida where he attended McArthur High School and graduated in 1969.
He attended college first at Broward Community College (now Broward State College) and later at the University of Florida, in Gainesville, Florida where he graduated in 1976 with a B.S. in Earth/Space Science Education. For most of his working life, he taught ast

It's make-believe time for adults and better still, you can share your dreams with others. My characters are like my children and my family, so I treat them with care and love --- even the nasty characters. I get to decide how they are to be punished for their wrongdoings. Writing is so much fun! As one Author once said, "Let there be light --- and there was light." I'm sure He has fun writing our futures, but He gave us the gift of our mind and the chance to join Him in the joy of creation. Wave your hands, part a sea or two. Just remember --- for you, it's just make-believe.(less)

There was a moment of pain but it wasn’t so bad he couldn’t stand up, look down and confirm for himself the house was now truly haunted; for there, in the rubble, he saw his own crushed and bloody body.(less)

“We cannot live without the Earth or apart from it, and something is shrivelled in a man's heart when he turns away from it and concerns himself only with the affairs of men”

“Who owns Cross Creek? The red-birds, I think, more than I, for they will have their nests even in the face of delinquent mortgages..It seems to me that the earth may be borrowed, but not bought. It may be used, but not owned. It gives itself in response to love and tending, offers its sesonal flowering and fruiting. But we are tenants and not possessors, lovers, and not masters. Cross Creek belongs to the wind and the rain, to the sun and the seasons, to the cosmic secrecy of seed, and beyond all, to time..."
