The Odd Shots

Are you a fan of Ilona Andrews, Nalini Singh, Patrice Michelle, Meljean Brook, and Jill Myles? They've started up a new joint blog called Odd Shots.  Check 'em out--they're currently giving away a copy of MUST LOVE HELLHOUNDS.
Good luck!

Penguin to release beautiful clothbound classics.

I've been hoping for this since their UK release was announced last year. Design*Sponge is reporting that Penguin will soon be releasing eight classic works of literature in their gorgeously-designed clothbound versions. Apparently, they'll be available at Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters. Read more here.

Keeping My Head Above Water

I haven't completely dropped off the face of the earth, although I'm immersed in trying to meet my deadline for TWICE BITTEN, which is quickly zooming up. However, now that we're nearly into September--and approaching the 30-day mark for the release of FRIDAY NIGHT BITES, there are lots of fun things planned...including interviews, booksignings and giveaways. Check back later tonight for an updated list of upcoming events on the FNB Blog Tour!

Listicles

Amazon reader Christie P. has put together an exhaustive list of paranormal romance series (alphabetical by author), if you're looking to pad your TBR list.
Also, John over at Grasping at the Wind has posted a meme of major sci fi/fantasy book review sites. So if you need to pad your blogroll, check it out. (Via Darque Reviews).

It's not the Oscars, but it's close...

Romantic Times Book Reviews has given Friday Night Bites a review of 4.5 stars.  The full review will be featured in the October 2009 issue of the magazine. You can also see the full PDF of the ratings for October here
Now to begin harassing my book stores until the October issues arrive...  :)
[Update - For some reason, the RT web site lists FNB as being reviewed in the October 2009 issue, but it's not listed in the PDF. Odd.:]

She's almost there...

If you're waiting for the word on FRIDAY NIGHT BITES, it's coming up in line soon over at Darque Reviews. Kimberly has a great site--and posts multiple reviews every week--so check it out!
I should note that I haven't yet read any reviews of FNB, so I really don't know what folks will think: if they'll like the voice, if they'll like the story, if they'll like Merit's interaction with the rest of the folks in her world.  It's a strange thing, waiting for folks to announce to the Interwebs whether

Maybe I'm the weird one.

Random assortment of things I've written about over the course of the last twenty-four hours.
1. Ukrainian-Greco churches2. Least weasels 3. Shepherd's pie-flavored pizza
Writing is such a weird, weird thing. :)

FRIDAY NIGHT BITES sneak preview

I'm trying to get motivated to get in my 1.5K words of TWICE BITTEN ... but while I'm procrastinating, here's a little somethin' somethin' from FRIDAY NIGHT BITES . . .
* * * <!--StartFragment-->

I could feel her now, a tiger beginning to pace. I could feel her moving, shifting beneath my bones, my muscles beginning to vibrate with it. She wanted my eyes fully silver, my fangs fully descended, my magic spilling through the room. She wanted to take Ethan's words and throw them back, to challenge him with steel.

Some days it's harder than others . . .

[From Sunday:]
As any of you who write surely know, there are some days when the words come freely. When you sit down and can fill half a notebook in a sitting, or when the word count in your electronic file keeps ticking further and further upward.

This weekend has not been one of those times. I'm not sure if it's tiredness--either generally or from staring at a computer most of the hours of every day--but I'm having to pluck out each and every word. Part of the problem is probably that I've be
