Nimona - Review

Nimona by Noelle Stevenson
Nimona
Noelle Stevenson
Rating: 4/5

I have had this on my shelf for such a long time but I never picked it up. Last week I was between books and decided now was the time. Ohhhhhh man, I am so glad I did. I liked reading from the "villains" perspective. Nimona was such a fun, mysterious character. The whole time I was unsure if she was actually a child or if that was another one of her shape-shifting favorites.

Nimona was full of fun and adventure. My favorite thing about it is that this wasn't a traditional good vs evil. Neither side was black and white, which is completely realistic.

And the artwork! Ahh it was beautiful. I didn't think I'd like the handwriting style but it brought a ton of personality to the story. Because I liked this so much, I am thinking I'll check out Lumberjane's next. Overall great! I highly recommend for fans of quirky fantasty.

Writing - Part 1

With all snow piling up, I've been finding that I'm able to get a lot of writing done. In case you didn't know, I am currently working on two projects.

1. The Army of the Gods, which is a sequel to my self-published book, The Collective. I'm super excited about this because I will be taking more time on this. I wrote The Collective quite quickly because it was based off a Reddit WP. I wrote a chapter a day(ish). I plan on fleshing the world out more and exploring more powers as well.

2. The Shadow's Throne.
I have been working on this for a couple of years and am not on my second draft. It is a high fantasy novel with magic and adventure. I really love the world I crated and I am planning on trying to get this traditionally published. I want this to be edited to perfection and I'm so excited to be continuing with this project.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. I'm an open book (pun intended )

Viking Warrior (Strongbow Saga #1) - A Review

Viking Warrior (The Strongbow Saga, #1) by Judson Roberts
Viking Warrior (Strongbow Saga #1)
Author: Judson Roberts
Rating: 4/5

This book captured my attention from the very first chapter. I really enjoyed the original voice that Judson Roberts used. I could tell he did a lot of research into the historical details of the time and place he set this story in. I also loved that there was a glossary in the back and a part that explained some historical relevance of the time.

Now for the characters. These characters were incredible. I loved that each person had their own personality and reacted realistically to what was happening around him. The POV character (Halfdan) felt exactly how you would expect him to, especially since he was raised as a thrall (slave) and not as a chieftain's son like later in the book.

I picked up this book because of a BookTuber I follow (Elliot Brooks - seriously her channel is amazing I highly recommend it) and it didn't disappoint. I will for sure be continuing this series.
