GRRR, The Finale

Well, my friends, we've finally come to the last week of Gonna Re-Read Red Month. I just returned home on Saturday from my "research" trip to New Orleans. We left 70-degree weather in the Big Easy just in time to return home to Dallas for a snow storm. Nevertheless, the trip was really fun. Highlights include lunch with the fab Diana Rowland (who signed a copy of Blood of the Demon for last week's winner) and Spawn busting out with a break dance routine in front of hundreds of people in...

GRRR Part Three

Happy Monday! As we begin week three of Gonna Re-read Red month, I'd like to thank everyone who's playing along at home. I loved seeing your casting suggestion for the book. And I don't think I have to explain how much your faery porn titles amused me. I always new my fans were naughty and creative.

The winner of Diana Rowland's BLOOD OF THE DEMON is Colleen (MizB1). I was impressed that she put so much thought into the casting that she even suggested actors for the minors roles. Colleen...

GRRR Part Two

Welcome to the second week of our build up to the release of The Mage in Black. First, a little fun business. The winner of Mark Henry's Battle of the Network Zombies is Melissa T! Email me your address (jayewellsatgmaildotcom) and I'll get your copy to you ASAP.

Now, I thought we'd switch things up a little this week. Instead of me summarizing the whole second part of the book, I'm going to throw some comments and questions out there.

The second quarter of the book (Chapters 9-16) begins and e...

GRRR Part One

It's finally March. That means it's just four short weeks until the release of my second Sabina Kane novel, The Mage in Black. Today, I kick off the Gonna Re-Read Red Month with a review of part one of Red-Headed Stepchild (chapters 1-8).

A quick warning before we begin: If you haven't read Red-Headed Stepchild you're going to want to skip these posts. Or better yet, grab yourself a copy and then come back and read them when you're done. Ignore this advice at your own peril. Or at least don't ...

She Nailed the Dismount

Got some great news today! Romantic Times magazine posted their rankings for their April issue. Guess who got 4 1/2 stars?

Awww yeah.

Here's a snippet of what they had to say:

Forcibly thrusting Sabina into situations that are hazardous both
emotionally and physically allows Wells to reveal the hidden layers of her
personality. There's no skimping on the action-packed thrills either. Wells
is definitely on the fast track to success. 4.5 stars.

The only bad thing? Giguhl's going to be pissed he...

Save the Date: GRRR

Happy Wednesday!

So I was thinking. It's a little less than a month until the big launch of The Mage in Black. Hard to believe it's been almost a year since Red-Headed Stepchild came out.

A lot has happened since then. Let's review, shall we?

2009

-Deaths: Marilyn Chambers (porn star), Bea Arthur, Dom Deluise, Jack Kemp, Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson (on the same day), Walter Cronkite, Frank McCourt, John Hughes (sob), Les Paul, Ted Kennedy, Patrick Swayze (he's like the wind), Brittany...

Good News Monday

Happy Monday, people. I woke up to a piece of cool news this morning, but first, some housekeeping.

For those of you who requested book plates, I got them all done this weekend. That means you should be getting them this week. Yay! If you haven't requested one yet, I have another option for you.

In late March, I'm heading to the Pacific Northwest for a mini-tour. While I'm there, I'll be signing at Powell's Beaverton on March 31 with the deliciously filthy Mark Henry. I just found out that...

Green-Eyed Demon Cover

Happy Friday, party people. Today I'm locking myself in my office for a write-a-thon. But before I do, a gift.

Even though I'm still writing this book, Orbit's on top of things well in advance. Yesterday, Lauren Panepinto, the fab designer of my covers, posted the cover for Green-Eyed Demon at the Orbit blog.

Here it is in case you're too lazy to click.

They went a little different direction this time with a more photorealistic image.  I really like the green Lauren chose and I love the wrought ...

Can of Worms

Happy Fat Tuesday, peeps. (tosses virtual beads)

I'm still recovering from a busy weekend, so I won't be partaking of Hurricanes or King cake today. On Saturday, I headed to ConDFW. I was scheduled for two panels, but ended up sitting on three–two on Urban Fantasy and one on humor. On Sunday, I headed back to the Con for a reading and signing. Then it was back home to spend V Day with my boys.

I want to discuss something that happened in one of my panels on Saturday. During my second UF panel, ...

Come and Get 'Em

Hi, friends. Well, judging from Twitter, the entire U.S. is covered in a thick blanket of snow right now. And Dallas is no exception. So far we've gotten six inches, which I assure you is big news down in these parts.

I've used my snowboundness as an excuse to do some housekeeping–metaphorical housekeeping, mind you.  Never actual housekeeping. Anyway, I've updated my upcoming appearances for the next few months. I'm still setting up some plans for other events so it's definitely not a...
