Once I came up with the idea of writing a sapphic-centric story set in the small town of Half Moon Bay, California, during the height of Prohibition, the characters practically created themselves. Neither the times nor being torn apart for merely loving each other could keep the main characters from finding their way back to each other. It is a story of love, perseverance, and chosen family. Dax and Rose and the incredibly supportive cast of characters around them will live with me for a very long time.

Following my diagnosis of Macular Telangiectasia Type 2, a disease that is stripping away my central vision, I faced the reality that one day I won’t be able to read the work I poured myself into. That scared the hell out of me. But thanks to everyone who purchased a paperback or eBook copy of Out of the Flames since its release this spring, visually impaired readers like me will be able to enjoy the world I’ve created.
